  1. My thought is brooks but knowing where you are or where you picked it up would help a lot
  2. Aus I like it!! Reminds me of the old piece of equipment that got left in the tree row and the plants are starting to grow on it. very nice piece.
  3. I think what ever you do will be great. It is hard to describe what is in your head sometimes so I m glad you could follow. I like the vine idea, I would call them roots instead and my thought is no leaves. I think they may not look right with the rest of the piece. To forged. To me would look like filler or to much. Just my take. But I do like the thought of using wrought and wrapping around the center pole to the base. Keep the simplicity and character of the old stock. You want a good symmetry between base and top. I think the leaves would brake that up. But just my thought on it.
  4. Aus I think the top spikes are just right. Not to short and not to long but longer than the coat spikes. As for the wheel barrel wheel not what I was expecting. You could still use as part of the base and take some spikes like on top and draw them out some using the head as the feet and mounting the point about 6"to 8" above the bottom then out over the wheel barrel spokes. Basicly adding angle brackets for support.
  5. We used the curved beak ones for wire fence work to pull out and pound in staples. The small vises are pocket vises. As opt hers have said great for holding small work. I have also known them as mountain man vises. Used to help work on their muzzle loaders. But that I don t know for sure.
  6. I will start to get them stripped off then,. Have found about 6 hay rakes.
  7. I would go with something more elegant that will tie the coat spikes in to the base like a bigger more drawn out spike. Something that will set off the center pole but tie the flow from top to bottom together I also like the length of the coat hook spikes.
  8. That's awesome, can you use hay rake teeth?? are Spring steel and usually about 3/8" I will be getting sucker rod soon.
  9. Pete great hammer it is very clean lined and has a great natural and organic look. Really see a craftsman/artist mind and skill set in the hammer.
  10. 01tundra mine are like counter sunk plow share bolts. You counter sunk socket heads should work fine. Just want rhe heads flush with the blade.

    My vises

Both great vises. If memory is right quickwerk was iron city vise.
  12. if it were mine I would not worrie about an umbrella ring. Around here most people use collapsible umbrellas and leave them in the car under the seat. Plus that center pole is to unique and I would rather accent it with the legs and feet. For me more eye appealing
  13. Right now I do it all on the wood stove next to the forge.
  14. I made it. But yes I have made some other pieces from their wrenches.
  15. Here is what our hat/coat rack looks like sorry for the fuzzy pic always happens with this rack. It is made from my grandpa And great grandpa and my wife's grandpa and great grandpa's old wrenches.
  16. All metal gears and good balance. Most you have to do is clean out old gunk in gear box and re oil.
  17. It is art, a wheeled sculpture in its essence
  18. Paint the base?? Ya forgot the tools it is just a stand with out something in it.
  19. Hear are a couple picks of my #10 b
  20. this one is like yours the stand was a cast stand. These two are tiger blowers which is a economic line for canedy ottofirst one has been gone through and painted second one has been cleaned out of all mouse and mud dobber nest and is freed and spins well. Still need to clean it up. i forgot to get a pic of the pump handle forge and blower
  21. The economy line canedy Otto is the hand crank with the 997 by the air outlet. But I can get you picks of the belt driven too. It was the blower for the pump handle forge you have.
  22. I have that forge all put together if you need pics. The hand crank looks like a tiger which is the econo line of canedy Otto.
