  1. Thanks all was a quick throw together rusted with vinager and sealed with satin poly. Matches colors in the room well.
  2. A bench vise can not take the abuse of heavy pounding like a post vise. The bench vise puts the stress on the screw and a post vise puts its stress on the leg going to the ground.
  3. Had some extra tube made a stake holder.
  4. Nice work!!! What is the size? Hat looks like you could wear it.
  5. Post pics even if not, someone might be able to help with the next go by seeing the failed attempt.

    Odd vise

    It is pretty cool!!
  7. I see what you are talking about now. Atsalis is it a double horn??
  8. Thanks for all the thoughts. I do like the cleanses of not having something hanging off the stand. I have a vise close that I can use and do have a small rolling table. Frosty I also like to get close to the anvil. The base is only 13" wide. Still plenty of room to go around and up close. I had a tripod Stand there first. Wanted something different for this anvil that was kinda modern yet classic stump. All my traveling stands are tripods.
  9. I am just wondering if you like a clean anvil stand or if you prefer rings or some other form of hanging tools and hammers on your anvil stand i made a new stand for my main anvil and am tring to deside if I want tool holders on it. stand is 1/4" plate and filled with 3 70lb bags of ram packed S mortar (dry). like the clean lines and look with no tools hanging on it, but don't like the tools on the floor around it. Thoughts?? On another note Dick with Reflinghaus gives me a hard time about having the only new reflinghaus he has seen that someone took all the factory paint off of. I think it looks better naked.
  10. Matei I thought it looked like a torch cut. You can see a little bit of heat lines in the same shape under it. Either that or an arc gouged there looks to be spatter towards the heel too
  11. Very nice run on tooling Brian!! All will serve you well.

    H*LOSE vise

When you make a new one cut threads on one end and tap the end ball so you can take it off if you ever need to.
  13. What about the rest of the photos

    H*LOSE vise

Das nice vise and handles are an easy fix. Nice clean up and paint.
  17. Again thanks for all the replys. Our museum director is not the one with the age problem it is one of the groups that do a lot of the demos. They are ok with some kids for something with the museum just not at club meetings.
  18. The left over Coke is all reusable just not thr ash or any clinker
  19. Thanks to all that have had a voice in this. The kids are the future of our craft!! If we can't interest and teach them the craft will die. Do any groups have an age limit in their by-laws?
  20. That is more of what is thought. I think the biggest thing is the fact that there is a responsible adult there to help keep track of the younger kid. We are not baby sitters and you can get hurt or die.
