JT
I bought a anvil today and will post more photos tomorrow when its light out.. these are from the add .. it was a 9 hour round trip to get it... there were 6 other guys trying to get it, but I was the first to reply.. so the lady held her word and saved it for me until I got there... even thought... while I was talking to her on the phone a guy came in with cash in his hand and wanted to buy it but she held her word to me that it was mine !! its so nice to see some people's word still means something these days !! not to often does this happen anymore... it turned out to be a Peter Wright England 2 2 10 I believe it makes it 290 lbs. its about 32 3/4" X 5" X 13 1/4" and was $375.00 a mere $1.29 a lb. !! Gergely
Congrats! She is a beauty! I thought - seeing the pictures - she weighs much less, but that's a pretty cool sized shop anvil. There is not much you can't do on her... Happy hammering! Gergely
JT
Thank you Gergely !! that's the same thing I though in the photos.. but they had it listed at 300?? pounds .. when I got there and saw it in person I just said "oh my god " !! with a very big smile !! Kevin Olson
Shes a beauty. An anvil for a realistic price. Nice. Fleabay would have that for 1500 :-( I recently looked at a no name beatup 4 inch vise with a bent handle no spring with heavy welding spatter all over it. He wanted 200. Ugh. I told him flat out he will never sell it. He blew me off.
j.morse
Wow, I am experiencing anvil envy big-time!! What a great deal. Was that thing bought in Michigan? If so, what county?
Gorō
Geez man so much more bang for buck for an anvil then down under. envious but congratulations man!
Yuppiejr
Very nice, congrats, that's a really nice looking anvil and a great example of a seller doing it right! I'd be sending her back a care-package of work (hooks, bottle opener, etc..) that you craft on that anvil as a thank-you for being such a good sport about holding that for you. Could get you a call the next time something blacksmithing related comes into her store before it ends up on the sales floor as well... I've been looking for awhile now and have hemmed and hawed at a few nice anvils at much higher prices only to have the sell before I could make up my mind... this one was only listed for a few hours before I saw it and I called and left a message saying I wanted it, and keep calling every couple minuets the next morning before they opened until they answered the phone.. well needless to say its mine now !! sooo.. did that beat up old vise sell for what he wanted ?? If so, what county? Hello j.morse !! yes I am blown away with it and couldn't believe the size and condition of it when looking at it in person !! they had another, possibly Fisher anvil.. I didn't even bother to look it over it was about 100 lbs. or so with chipped up edges and wanted $275.00 for that one and only $375.00 for this one.. it didn't make much sense to me and I didn't ask !! lol no it wasn't here in Michigan it was in North East Ohio... Hello Peter Bui !! thank you !! not many up here this size and condition even close to this price that I have found or seen either... but you never know what's lurking around out there.. just lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time on this one... Hello Yuppiejr !! thank you !! yes there really are still some great people that stand by their word and I gave her real phrase for being such a stand up person even while having a person standing in front of her with cash in his hand wanting to buy it within seconds after she answered my call.. but told him I was first in line !!! I will take your idea to heart.. sounds like great karma !! JT 4 hours ago, John in Oly, WA said: Congrats! Beauty of an anvil! I'm new to this and its my second Anvil, I bought them both this year. my first is a early 112 lb. Fisher in nice condition with excellent rebound .. its a bit ironic as they both were exactly the same price !! $375.00 JT
ThomasPowers
Asking price on anvils at Quad-State this year: I saw a few between US$2-3 a pound. More around $3 a pound and lots for lots more.. My big buy was H 13 rod for punches this year.

BD1
AWESOME looking for sure. I sure wish everybody was as nice as your seller and honored their word. I went to a garage sale that was to start at 9AM for a nice looking anvil. Got there at 8:45 AM only to find out they sold it 15 minutes ago. I was not happy. I was not happy. oh... that does suck.. and was what I thought would happen in my case.. especially when a buyer with cash in his hand came in and wanted it while I was talking to her on the phone.... I called her back the next morning thanking and praising her for what she did.. and she told me the owner of the store did the same thing !! he praised her and told her she did the right thing and that's how he wants his business ran !! your word is your word and stand by it no matter what.. he told her he didn't care if the guy that was there had tried to offer more for it.. don't ever take it and keep your word !!... that means more to him then the money!! its very nice to see some people still have strong ethics !!
