Anyone have any info to share as far as a review of either grinder/buffer? I need a 2 x 72, but don't have the $ for the high end belt grinders out there.

I made a bunch of those out of small diameter copper rod that is around 5/32 in diameter. I bought a coil of it at Home Depot. The various wimmen-folk loved them. They were considerably smaller than the one pictured above.

I picked up a beautiful 4" Monday p.m. for $70. It also needed a spring. I went out to my trapping stuff and grabbed the spring off an old (I've owned it 50+ years!)Victor no. 1 long-spring. Works like a charm. The vise has a number 5 on the underside of the screw-down plate. Any ideas as to it's maker?

My All Purpose Boy is an oil field worker. I can get sucker rod by the literal ton. Why do I need to stay away from the stuff used in sour gas wells, and just as importantly....how can you tell what type well it was in????

That is a great looking Wilkinson anvil. I have one nearly identical, except mine is just a few pounds lighter at 143 lbs. A REAL STEAL!

I paid $150 for a 90lb. Columbian near Farwell a couple summers ago. I was tickled pink to get the darn thing, I'd been looking for a long while.

Wow, I am experiencing anvil envy big-time!! What a great deal. Was that thing bought in Michigan? If so, what county?

It sure resembles my Wilkinson. Does it say anything on its sides?

Gunslinger, the forge went for $475, tongs for $17 each(bidders choice of a couple dozen), and the anvil sold for $650. I'd give my left eye tooth for a PR that size and shape (it was in great shape), but I'm just too stingy with my loot! I find it hard to believe the darn things are selling for the prices they are getting. Then again, a couple of vehicles I've owned, if I still owned them, would sell for 2-3 times what they did new. I'm officially and old guy I guess.

There was a big old (315 lb?) Peter Wright at an auction near Mesick, Mi. today. I had a friend bid on it for me because I couldn't make it........the first bid thrown was exactly my maximum! It was a beauty I'd loved to have had. Any of the members there? They sold an old forge and a bunch of tongs too.

My All Purpose Boy works in the oilfields here, and has lugged home a few sucker rods. The only thing I have pounded out of them were some dinner bell triangles. That was from the rod, not the knuckle/coupler on the end. It was HARD stuff.

The second photo....what Daswulf called Hobbles/Shackles, are what old country boys call "cow kickers". They were, as Kozzy said, used while milking....... to keep cows from kicking over the milk pail! Got a set just like those hanging on my wall even as I type this.
