Hi, I'm thinking about getting dedicated tongs for railroad spikes. I'm a beginner and wonder what you guys prefer for railroad spikes. I did search and read what some use and suggest. I saw these at on line, xxxxxxxxxxxxx They have an economy one too which have a different jaw. xxxxxxxxx I read about gooseneck tongs here and many say to avoid them. on line has those. xxxxxxxxx I'm planning to use for bottle openers and basic playing with spikes. and don't want to try to make them. Got these at a garage sale. First has flat face and a diagonal cut on the other. The other round punch with rounded face opposit. Last is a half round recessed and flat opposite. Not sure what the tool is but I'll use it for Blacksmith work. Got it all for $15.00

I bought those COSTCO 4' LED shop lights too. Replaced 4 bulb fluorescent with two bulb LED'S and they are brighter. Best part is that they work in COLD WEATHER TOO ! I'm in Northern Illinois and the fluorescents would barely light in the cold. Love the COSTCO ones especially for $20.00. The first batch I too paid more , $30.00 each.

WOW !! I'm a retired fitter and a 36'' is a big xxx wrench. That is amazing, great artistic ability and like the saw chain. That is really huge , maybe post a picture with a pop can. It maybe hard for some to visualize. I know how big a wrench is because I used them . THAT is a much better application . I have a few old ones that I may attempt something like that. Really love it !! THANKS for sharing !!!

AWESOME lookin for sure !!! As for the in ground part, maybe consider bending rebar like rocketship wings and weld to it.

What material size / shape steel is the gate and panel made from ? Depending on that , I would use square 3x3 or 4x4 tube or 3'' schedule 40 pipe. Round or square depends on what would look better. As for the depth, 30'' seems fine to me , you shouldn't need to worry about frost in California.

Nice setup. I ordered a Chile forge two weeks ago and have a Vulcan anvil too. Just beginning to do Blacksmith type work. As for your tank, I have my 100 pounder strapped to a two wheel hand truck.
