  1. Picked it up today! $800, so $2.90 a pound. I’ll post pics when I get it cleaned up.
  2. Yep! A couple times. Based on that it seems that most fakes would be glaringly obvious. Wish I could find date info though.
  3. Anybody know any kind of history or timeline for Peddinghaus? Looking for an era for this version. The seller said he was told 1930’s or 40’s, but wasn’t sure.
  4. Thanks for the welcome! I’m in West Monroe. If I can make sure it’s not a fake or a copy - and I don’t even know if anybody did straight up copies from this era - I’ll hit the road in the morning. I did message Joey on FB, I read he knows more about these. Haven’t heard back yet. The only other usable anvil I’ve found here was a 176 lb PW for $900. Good anvils are slim here. Found a 100 lb Hay Budden missing about 15% of the top plate for $425. Found another 175 PW, but had been broken in half at the waist and welded together. Not to mention the edges were all chipped away. They still wanted $850.
  5. Hi, first post. Been looking for an anvil for a few weeks. Came across an older used Peddinghaus #12, and I’m having a hard time finding info on the older ones. There seems to be little info on the ones marked only “Peddinghaus” with the weight number under it. Mainly I want to be sure it’s not a fake. I noticed concern in several posts about that. It’s definitely stamped and the logo font looks right. The hardie hole is chamfered. Its 2 hours away and gas is high, so I was hoping to get a little info about these first. Anvils are slim around here. We have a couple collectors who’ve been buying up anvils for decades. I visited with one guy who had almost 200 anvils. Also, people usually want $5/lb (or more) around here. But this one is under $4/lb. Here’s the pics I have.
