    I'm actually impressed with how wide you were able to get the rivet area. I make mine with 1/2", and still have to upset.

    If your using a hair dryer as a blower, try putting a little duck tape over part of intake to dampen the power.

    Things like BBQ forks are good to learn on. Forge welding is advanced. Especialy chainsaw blade damascus.

    Don't un-patina it and then waste wd40 to keep it from rusting. It took many years to get that patina. That's different than rust. Rust is on the surface. A good patina will keep it from rusting if you leave it on.

    If you wire brush it, don't brush away the patina. Brush just enough to shine it up a little. The best way to clean it is to forge on it.

    Thanks JT! I tried to have a 200 pounder shipped to me by UPS, and the guy said it would be $690! He also said an anvil is like the awesomest thing you can buy!

    Maybe a leaf key ring? Don't spend too much time on her until you know your ready to make a gold ring.
