  1. Someone needs to try filling one with refractory and using for the actual forge.
  2. Wow, I never cut thicker than 1/4" plate with my jigsaw. What kind of blade did you use?
  3. I'll take you up on that as long as it isn't processed on equipment that processes swage blocks.
  4. I hope president Bush likes BUSHcraft! Wow, that was really cheesy. Sorry guys!

    so proud of me

I've used a little bit of rebar, and so far so good. There is no "too big", but that would definitely take a lot of drawing out.(understatement of the year)

It helps me to do both sides at the same time. You can keep holding them up to each other to check for symmetry.
  7. Testing rebound with a hammer is a lot different than using a ball bearing. 3-4" sounds pretty good to me.
  8. Good job. I made a few of those out of 3/16 stock for a local show with key rings on them. They look extra nice if you first take a rounding hammer to the whole length of the wire to give it the hammered look.
  9. TubalCain2 is more famous than he's letting on to. In fact, he's so rich that he has a servant that does his typing for him!
  10. Don't listen to me. Thomas Powers is always right. I didn't even know what a mooring cleat was. I guess it really wouldn't make since to have two hardy holes.
  11. It is Absolutely inappropriate to put pictures of a naked hammer on a public forum!
  12. Not too many first-timers get their hands on an anvil like that. Plug your ears. Here come the railroad track guys!!!
  13. All I can tell you is that it's cast. It's hard to tell how heavy it is from the pics, but most bridge anvils are quite large. That extra stuff at the bottom of the base is interesting. Looks like a rare find.
  14. Goes to show how much I know about cooking! Get the point though?
  15. HF isn't "evil". Some of their stuff is actually decent, and the rest is priced accordingly. Take a peddinghaus anvil, and divide it by the cost of a HF anvil and you will see that you're still getting your money's worth. Some people say: "Well, I want quality tools, so if it's cheap, it ain't worth anything to me." Think about what it would be like if every kitchen item had to be premium restaurant grade. Yikes! Same for the restaurant owners who need a drill to have around the house.
