  1. Peddinghause makes good solid hammers for around the $45 range. I wouldn't spend any more than that until you really develop your skills.
  2. Yep. That's a Hay Budden. Top quality anvil. How much did you pay for her?
  3. Not bad for a start. Come over to my smithy, and I'll teach u how to make an S hook!
  4. That is one sweet anvil! What company did the shipping, and how much did they charge?
  5. Tc2, it's about time that u know that I know that u stole that joke from Hickok 45!
  6. What really makes you mad is when you see the cows snacking on your coal!
  7. Steering wheel on the left side is correct. Steering wheel on the right side is not. Steering wheel on both...
  8. Once a cow (luckily alive) got into my smithy. It was just chewing on the horn of my anvil, and leaving piles of you know what on the floor.
  9. Hmmm... I generally aim for the piece that i'm forging, not the anvil.
  10. Personally, I like dirt. Concrete will make you feel more soreness after days of constant walking around.
  11. Maybe you should try heating it up, then sandwiching it between two pieces of thick plate steel in a vise if you don't have a perfectly flat anvil.
  12. You should see the video of those guys In Nepal making kukris. Amazing work, and it's all done using actual sledge hammer heads at floor level for the anvil. It's not what you make in on. It's what you make.
  13. I wasn't thinking. I guess I just get a little exited when I hear someone say left handed!
  14. It aint the size of his hands that make his gloves rip every time he makes a fist. trust me.
  15. I don't use gloves for either of my hands. If the steel is hot, its just a matter of time 'till you've got a hot glove to deal with. BTW left handed people are awesome!
  16. If you can't bend it with your hands, how are you going to bend it without a cheater bar?
  17. Hey comrades, saw this at an antique store the other day, and immediately recognized it as a Champion. For 18 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. It's a two pounder, and from the side it looks like a normal cross pein. There's something interesting about it though. It has a corrugated pein. I was lucky enough to find this old add calling it an electric sharpening hammer. I get the calk sharpening part, but not so sure about "electric". Just wanted to see if anybody els has one, and hear your input. C-1
  18. To help you out we really need pictures and the weight. Even with that information, there is no defined ''range'' of value. If you go to eBay, and search ''blacksmith anvil'' you will see what I'm talking about. Mousholes are the real deal, so just enjoy it for what it is.
