  1. Will do, Thomas. Tubalcain, this one augments my 88 pounder, thanks.
  2. Yep Soderfors. Ha! Can sing all she wants till I can't stand it. Then I shall give her a pretty necklace!
  3. Wuts in the box, honey?? Oooooohhh, pretty! I could lift it, but I won't. The last time I put an anvil up on forum, "Fred" got it. Never Again! It's in my truck, Chuck. As a quality metric, I consider my new Partner to be in mint condition. Utter Perfection. My grandfather's 1929, 143# Soderfors is still working outside of Hedley, Texas so this anvil carries a deep significance for me. Just an anvil, right? Robert Taylor
  4. I have now had time to read the above posts thoroughly. I just had my performance evaluation yesterday, and the only appropriate response from me would have been "Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah". No other response was entertained. Being professionally critical of process is deemed as "negative attitude", which I am advised to work on. Were I to purchase the company tomorrow, I would retain this particular manager, but he would receive training on the concept that there value in listening to the ideas of others. Knowing the futility of attempting to reason with him, I simply stated that our organization has failed to meet my minimum standards, and thus, has failed its probation. Name Withheld
  5. And again, welcome and glad to see your presence in the IFI community. Robert Taylor
  6. To "Fred", in New Mexico: These are not the droids you are looking for........ Move along. (This is NOT the anvil you are looking for)
  7. Meat Parts! Yikes! I hate looking at my pulleys and cables. That clang is the sound of a meat chopper and goes right up my spine. Excellent presentation Yves, and Thomas, I know that move! Robert Taylor
  8. Ball bearing test. I have run across two instances recently wherein the (discontinued) anvils showed themselves to be maybe a bit soft. Good price though IF it passes the rebound test. Robert Taylor
  9. A lot of big words that somehow just don't seem to fit together........ Perhaps it's my lack of higher education..... Robert Taylor
  10. Soooooo..... When we (we killed a bear, dad shot him) are able to emulate the three dimensional crumpling strength of this new configuration in an electronically stippled version of the multilayer planar arrangement, THAT will be a tremendous advance. The stuff so far is just too slippery. This is down at the level of Quantum Electro-Dynamics, and I missed that bus. I have read that graphene was first observed in 1962 and then "forgotten" until 2004, when it was formally isolated. So only fourteen years of study and development behind this material - not a long time. SLAG, once again, I am in way out of my depth - what a ride!
  11. Nice Treasure Trove, and thank you for your service! Robert Taylor
  12. So sorry to hear, all are in our hearts and our prayers. Robert and Sheila Taylor
  13. Like C-1 said - boring NOT! I will be drooling over over your posts for some time to come. Great work-in-progress pictorial and story. Welcome Aboard. Robert Taylor
  14. About 28 years in Aerospace, the last 13 of which have been as a tool and cutter grinder/engineerig support; wedge in there somewhere about two years of aimless wandering. Last 22 months with a team making Rolls Royce jet engine components. Beat steel to decompress from the unnerving necessity of high stress zero error throughput. Robert Taylor
  15. I hear you brother. If talking can help at all, let me know. Some tragedies can not be averted, but I have seen things turn for the better when it was simply not possible. Sometimes just talking the strategy of survival can buy some time. Nonetheless, you are in our prayers and our hearts. Robert and Sheila
  16. To those who have gone before us.......
  17. Das Wulf, I feel like teasing you about your lack of creativity, but that is outstanding! You are no fun.
  18. Fascinating. Reminds me of how I am learning to tie various knots - the outcome is driven by end-use criteria rather than the steps it takes to build the knot. Don't laugh at me!
  19. Stormcrow, thanks for posting this - nice details. JHCC, I have been having some pretty good fortune, but Sunday I mortgaged my next 15 birthdays (3rd mortgage on 5 of them). Keep at it. Robert Taylor
  20. A happy and joyous New Year to all! We hold you and your loved ones close to our hearts, Robert and Sheila Taylor
  21. Ah Benjamin - my favorite hippie. Better than Nice - Great find. Robert Taylor
  22. Thanks Das Wulf, @ $105, comes to 18¢/#. And check your PM, Happy New Year!
  23. Well, I had not made it all the way home by yesterday morning, so answering an add in Perris, California, netted me these: The single is 250 - 300#, the pair are ~ 200# each. Truth be told, they are paid for, but Mrs Taylor's RAV was so full of treasure (my brother found a dumpster glory hole in Goleta) that we had to leave them for later pick up.
