  1. this bites, but, the good Lord has it in control. unfortunatly we don't understand his ways, prayers to the ones left behind, jimmy& mary.
  2. outstanding!! only thing I see that you might consider is putting some type of sheathing on the hoses, maybe a old piece of fire hose or even some heavy discharge hose just to prevent chafing and possible hose rupture.
  3. for me, it's a 6" wide belt. makes it easier to get a uniform line, and shape. after general shaping, etc. then on to narrower belts ( on diffrent grinders)and finally the elbow grease.
  4. you know, chicks dig scars and tattoos....
  5. maybe need to have limiter switches....if you are doing several pieces at a time.
  6. one problem is....i seen this on a video game........or the awsome ...i wanna make a sord. especially when they say well i have a bbq pit. and the ever present, you owe me the knowledge because i demand it. and the ability that some think they are never wrong and when told to crawl before walking, they get their drawers in a knot.
  7. ohh yeah!! that's too cool... makes my lil 60 cup look wimpy.
  8. dose the drum have any type of agitating fins on the inside? maybe interrupting the simple rolling motion will help?
  9. as a wall hanger, you could just use mild steel. but what little knowledge I have on the subject, they were not a high carbon steel, like 1084/95 because of rough use ( prying, opening c-rat cans, ammo crates, etc.) and when "fixed" a harder steel could fail considering it was attached to a 4' rifle, I would think that 5160 would be more of the "type" of steel that would have been used. but its your bayonet so do as you please. will be interesting to see the finished product, good luck jimmy
  10. a genny is good to have for now and then apps. but factor in fuel, maintenance, and some repair costs, it gets out of hand in a hurry. pushing one day in day out for five years is a tall order even for a big diesel rig. but if you do, get the biggest you can get and get 2 of them, that way you have backup and can rotate gensets time to time and won't be down if one needs servicing.
  11. if nothing else, hot punch it..
  12. RIP onr,and prayers and strength for thoseleft behind. jimmy & mary
  13. tried a beard for a little while, between weeks 2-4 it was miserable. kept it for awhile then went back to the oilfield, and you can't have a beard because we had to be H2S certified, so off it came, been off for..24? years. then in 2010 I had radiation treatments, and, that saved me a few razors.. but now I shave out of defense because it's so scraggily and gray.
  14. i have used coal(when i got it in colorado) but now over here in west texas, i use the hard to find misquite...
  15. good thing both of ya'll forge, that way "the pot won't be calling the kettle black". i just wash them and hope for the best, shampoo helps clean the arms, etc. but some times the hands just have to wear it off. ether way a forging day IS a good day!
  16. I made fire starters out of rolled up newspaper dipped in wax, they are about 2"long by 1" around and burn like a candle.
  17. may the Good LORD bless him abundently and be with ya'll in this time of need. remember he is there for ya'll to lean on, blessings to you.
  18. the list is long, the memory is short, and my get up and go, done, got up and went...
