  1. Howdy Clayton, I used to go through Leadville( i worked out of Rifle) and around the western slope. Used to get coalatMountian Feed and Supply. Welcome to the site, lots of knowledge on here! jimmy
  2. I was a driller in the oil/gas industry until i was disabled. now I do manly stuff like dishes, laundry, etc. But i do my best to annoy the neighbors by creating a racket in the shop!!
  3. fishing sure isn't anyfun, even if you catch it on thefirst run....
  4. if you need to heat it to bend, open the coils up and put a wet rag around the spring to act as a heat sink. or put it in a tube of water with the end out and get after it.
  5. prayer for those left behind.lean on God! jimmy & mary
  6. fresh water is 8.34 ppg, saturated brine is 14 ppg. sea water is 9.5 ppg ( for reference) so you could mix up to 5.5 # of salt per gallon, so adj. salt till you get what content you want. but high carbon dosen't like brine. ( tomy limited knowledge)
  7. knee mail sent. jimmy & mary
  8. to be a politico here it has to have a FORKED tongue....
  9. A Victor wrench is a good choice, but be aware of grasses and such, also, any fuel tanks, lines, and spillage/leakage if you roll the car/ truck over to access the springs. BE SAFE, jimmy.
  10. ya'll are really starting to worry me....
  11. for lighting the forge I use news paper dipped in wax. cut n/p up in about 1 1/2- 2" strips roll up several strips into a 1/2- 3/4" dia. rolles tape/ tie up and put in melted wax, let it dry and then your ready to lit er up.
  12. maybe just find a piece of bull wall pipe?
  13. stupidity abounds nowdays, most should not play with a rubber ball because it has too many moving parts! but seriously, i was a driller/ roughneck most of my life and have seen countless "worm bites" that should have not happened, but then again the bad stuff was fatal, which i only saw a couple incedents, i'm glad that i'm medicaly retired for the simple fact most "hands" nowdays are a walking accident.
  14. youve come along way kiddo!!
  15. i still need a base but years ago, i aquired a pony rod from a F- 1000 mud pump, cut off the broken end . but it's 4 1/2" dia. abbout 17" long, with a flange on the end for bolt down. and besides that most of the shaft is chromed and purtty looking!
  16. you could just reprofile the handle and tadaa!!
  17. welcome to the elusive world of "knife perfection"! a fine first go though.
  18. it's a sad world, the more info that is available the stupider they get.sure i wish i wouldn't have done some of the stuff i survived, but, unfortuntly common sense is no longer available.
  19. Detroits are ok for constant speed/ stationary engines, like gens, a/ comps, etc. good on fuel and run cool, but don't lug to save it's life. if it has the mechanical fuel pump on it, pull it off ( has 2 bolts on it) and check the little square drive sleave, and the condition of the pump and engine drives. and remember they leak oil.... if it doesn't it's out of oil!!!
  20. they need to let it be. but after 30+ years of "being on time", it's "on time is when I get there" for me...
  21. ether back it up with another hammer or maybe a wedge of some sort to fit between the obstruction and rivet?
  22. geeze frosty, why spend 20$ for something when you can make it for 200$???
