July 29, 201114 yr I am the lucky owner of the only other Grant Sarver tooling anvil (Grants being the OTHER one) I finally got around to building a stand for it.... Sounds like I am going to have to build another one for Grant as well.... Total weight is 430lbs working height is 31.5" One of my die blocks cracked in heat treat so I have to make a new one (or try and con Grant into making several) I think this is going to be a real fine addition to the shop once I get it sorted.... I all ready have plans for some tooling add on's and a material support... Maybe some dedicated V block dies.... sky is the limit...
July 29, 201114 yr That is so 'Art Deco' you just need to add some funky colour! certainly a trend setter. Ian
July 29, 201114 yr Author I should also say this was the first project using my pattern cutting table... I had some issues with my pattern... it wanted to double back in places but I managed to get all four cut
July 29, 201114 yr That stand *IS* a work of art for that anvil. "Old School Industrial to the Max!" Think about doing the next one in more of a "dirigible airframe" pattern for the cutouts for a "Victorian SF" look
July 29, 201114 yr While it does add to the "style", is there any real reason for putting lightening holes in an anvil stand? I'll take mine without the "swiss cheese" please.

July 30, 201114 yr Author mmm... maybe textured copper? Now we are getting just a bit silly though... this thing is a mule, not a show pony!
August 10, 201114 yr I like the idea of some brass and copper highlights, nice looking anvil stand! B)
October 25, 20169 yr I would love to see the picture for this anviI but the link is dead. Does anyone have a copy they could share? Thanks!
October 26, 20169 yr What is it about anvils with dovetails that's so intriguing? I might have to build one just to have one to show off the next time someone comes by the shop and asks to look around.
October 26, 20169 yr Very nice, I certainly agree that it's a work of art! Thanks for sharing it John. Edited October 26, 20169 yr by Jeremy Whalen
October 26, 20169 yr So, there are four dovetailed recesses in the top edge, to take different striking surfaces/blocks? And the photo shows three of them keyed into place?
