  1. Great job on the castings Hans. Seems like every new item you cast leads in in a better direction learning what works and what doesn't - things are progressing well. Littleblacksmith - great job and well done on the sales.
  2. I like them both - looks good. Any thoughts on a 1 1/4" shank on the cone?
  3. My wife wanted some pumpkins to put around the barn. Her friend already put in an order for some more so it looks like this is my next project this weekend.
  4. Great looking knife - nice that you could do that for their wedding.
  5. Just got this 171 lb Arm & Hammer anvil. Working on an anvil stand this weekend.
  6. I would guess it would be 1920-1921 timeframe. Looks like a nice anvil.
  7. Anyway to modify the drive train from a bike to drive the blower. Do away with the derailers and gear it how you want. It would only drive in one direction.
  8. My wife spent a year deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan - in her training they gave her that book - "the Gift Of Fear" and taught just that - trust that voice that if something doesn't feel right - it probably isn't..
  9. There is a reason oxyacetylene are in separate tanks, flash arrestors, and all the special fittings - when someone says they have modified high pressure tanks - run....
  10. Ironically the first photo from Yoders above was most of what they were selling at Quad State. I know I looked at 2 of them but they were high - they are marked with the weights and prices they were selling for.
  11. I got there Friday afternoon and didn't see many deals on anvils at Quad State. One guy must have had 40+ anvils there but his prices were stupid high - probably why everyone ignored him and come Sunday it looked like he still had all of them. Yoders were there but again I thought they were high. I did find an Arm & Hammer 171 pound anvil which was the best price and condition - at least on Friday afternoon. Come Sunday the anvils seemed to be picked clean.
  12. I agree - start saving now. Amazing how fast my money evaporated on Friday!
  13. Really nice - that is on my to-do list. I was also looking at Kibler's rifle kits.
  14. Quad State Pics Opening Ceremony - Making a large Fredericks Cross I had volunteered to help out and worked with Richard Sullivan - a gunsmith at Colonial Williamsburg. He had forged a barrel and put the octagon shape on the round barrel. He also made the lock plate. Next year he will be finishing the barrel and making additional parts. At some point he will finish the rifle. Really learned a lot from him not only about techniques but also a lot of the history of rifle making in the colonial period.
  15. I will work on taking some photos this weekend. Headed up there in a couple hours. I will be wearing a tan USMC ball cap and probably have my Canon SLR with me. Mike
  16. Really nice job on the razor! Been using straight razors for a couple of years and will never switch back. Make sure to post photos when it is done.
  17. Really nice wine rack. Great job.
  18. I will be there Friday afternoon through Sunday. Volunteered to help out so I will be working with Richard Sullivan who will be making a gun barrel as one of the demonstrations. Ultimately I want to go home with an anvil.
  19. Nice cobras - the all-thread creates an impressive pattern.
