  1. Das, Olydemon, Aus, John - great looking pieces! Guess I need to get off my rear and finish some pieces.
  2. Wow - really impressed with that opener Jeremy - great job!
  3. Great job - I like the industrial look.
  4. Now I see what you mean about a pain without a brake! Once you see the beam you realize how big the brackets are.
  5. Very nice - keep posting pics so we can see the progress.
  6. Nice that the persistence paid off. I have a relative that has this Peter Wright sitting in the yard - I need to start begging.
  7. I agree - after 25 years as an Electrical Engineer doing power distribution in buildings - I don't trust myself all the time either.... As I always tell everyone that asks for advise and is not comfortable working with electricity - call an Electrician - cheaper than a house fire.
  8. A single phase 230 VAC, 5 HP draws 28 amps. 30 amps would work but be tight. I would opt for a 35 Amp switch. The other option mentioned is a starter - you will need a NEMA size 2 for the motor, pretty standard - just search the web. NEMA size 2 is designed to handle a motor up to 7.5 HP.
  9. Very nice - already downloaded a few images. Thanks for the link.
  10. With Valentine's Day coming up - I made this for my wife. First go at making a flower and played around making a vase.
  11. What is even more amazing is that we use tools the resemble the tools they used 2000+ years ago. Our metallurgy is more precise and the steels are harder but they used tong, hammers, anvils, and fire. Kind of neat to think about. Went to Pompeii last year and saw what was described as a blacksmith shop in the city.
  12. Everyone is producing some incredible stuff, the skulls and flowers are great. Made a handle for the wrench and got it welded on over the weekend. My first attempt at a pineapple twist.
  13. I have noticed that also that many of the Pinterest pins - especially the artwork or architectural details tend to be out of Russia.
  14. The Blacksmith: Ironworker and Farrier by Aldren A. Watson You can see the pages on Google Books https://books.google.com/books?id=zxbe5IPWx3IC&pg=PA129&dq=building+a+leather+lung+bellows&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj0har49IngAhXxY98KHSKnClcQ6AEIKjAA#v=onepage&q&f=false
  15. That is very cool. Starting off in my career I was a controls Engineer working on plastic extrusion equipment so pairing control systems with a press has peaked my attention. Thanks for posting this.
  16. Great pattern on that blade - really like that ruffled effect.
  17. Looks like you have a great project - definitely have your work cut out for you.
  18. You are correct - typing one thing but thinking about something else. It is a set hammer, working on a flatter.
