  1. Yes, Thanks for the instruction Jim. I will have to give that one a go as soon as I can. Brilliant!
  2. Sounds like it would be a good investment. I'll have to poke around and see what I can find.
  3. I've never stick welded, I can imagine the learning curve. I have a TIG machine that I still have a long way to go learning. I went with the big MIG because #1 I know the machines, and #2 to get cleaner welds .
  4. I have pushed the limits of that little welder and it has still treated me right. Now it wont need to be pushed to the limits. It will still get lots of use but now it has a big brother for the heavy lifting. Thanks Frosty. It's got it's work cut out for it.
  5. I mainly weld in my shop so I don't have to worry about wind, but if I end up outside on a large project I'll keep that in mind. The machine has a good chart inside the access door with all the settings for metal type and thickness and wire size etc. it'll come in handy until I know this machine as well as my Lincoln 135.
  6. Looks like it takes the side blast light bulbs.
  7. So you are getting good results with the rice coal in the jabod?
  8. Cool. Looks like you are ready to heat some steel in that guy. With charcoal I doubt you are going to need much of a blast with that. I'll have to make one of those one day.
  9. That's a nice anvil Jackdawg. Looks like the edges are already set up as well. Post some pics when you get it cleaned up and mounted please.
  10. I really like him. What Aus said, And he needs some antennae. ( is that the proper way to say it?) Man he is impressive. Details count when selling a piece. heck details always count. Nothing needs to be exact but the closer the better. Nice work!
  11. Thanks Jim you are correct. It is a Useful tool that will get lots of use. I have a list of some other investments. All in good time. The need of this one won't hold me back any longer.
  12. That's the plan. My small welder has paid for itself many times over. It just can't do the big stuff. So now I can start doing the big stuff. It's an investment.
  13. When you have been sick for over a week and haven't got to play in the shop then you go to the doctors and they load you up on antibiotics and take your blood and give you shots, you need some comfort. I looked at my funds today and finally pulled the trigger on something I've been wanting/ needing for a while. First time I've really felt good in a while! Now I'm excited!
  14. I think that was mine. I have made 5 of them so far. They work great and I season them just like the cast iron pan I use them on. I still need to make a matching spoon and fork for a matching set. Then make a wall mount holder or something using spikes. ( I still have the 2 on the left the longer one I use for camping)
  15. Wow Jim! Now that is an idea. I have tons of those laying around. Thanks.
  16. I dont think it would. whats the harm in trying.
  17. I had trouble with my first corkscrew. I like the design of yours. but hey, we drink beer, not wine.
  18. Dang, The etch turned out nice! Looks like it'd be a good skinner to me. handle depends on what you like but for a skinner I like the antler idea.
  19. Third from the left looks like some sort of stake fuller. Nice score.
  20. Of course we love pictures! So much to see. I think what you are planning is a great idea. If you could, a display or two of operations that would go on in the smithy. Kind of like in progress like the blacksmiths just took a break for lunch.
