  1. It sounds like that forge is from time when was WW2. For what they use that kind forge. They won't smith swords, i guess fire weapon.
  2. After this heat treat is done in water and later using wet rag. He said if the axe is easy to file that mean axe is too weak, and after heat treat if it give clean white color it is not good the beter t is if it give yellow colour and best is if axe blade give a dark blue color. Off course he put axe in vise than grind it with angle grinder, after he don "drawing" part.
  3. I went to blacksmith in my town to see what he do and to learn new things. He was peening axe like (one will peen sythe) just using heat and great hits of hammer. So i want to share this with you.
  4. I have some suggestion but you need to keep this material out of water.
  5. Thanks God something that match with topic bellows. I only saw blower electric and crank. GOod bellows. I hope they work.
  6. In Balkan we ussualy use Hornbeam. ITs strong tough and good wood. But its hard to cut it. Second i would use dogwood. I would use ash too if i dont have other woods. Here in stores you can see beech handles offten on tools.
  7. Tie a chain or rope to pole and tie to that rope some / lumber when you step on lumber it pull pole. You would just have to step on it and you will look sily . Something like this
  8. Thanks for answer this is right one idea that blacksmith in my place give me when i asked him to make drawknife. He said that he will need car leaf spring.
  9. But i can't use everything that is metal and isn toxicated for axe. If i use rebar that's would be realy bad axe.
  10. They wanted to be in centre of world right.
  11. How you guys know wich steel have i guess some metals in it when you take metal to hand. If its wood it's easy casue of grain and structure to notice ex this is birch it have colour and textures. Or for brass i can notice that. Its goldish yelow color. But for steel how you know how much carbon it have inside. And i heard that 100% iron dont exist caseu its imposible to cast it without some other stuff.
  12. Silicone is not metal. Its better to learn more i guess.
  13. Where i can see on forum this word to steel translate. Am not sure but are those metal in PEriodic siystem element.
  14. That usualy show on some wrenches. Why some wrenches are weaker than other. Is steel and carbon key for that. I thik that chrome is only for shiny and vanadium might be for strenght but its realy in rare percent in steel.
  15. Are same trolls and smartguys i wont say xxxxxxxxxx : Or xxxxxxxx. Ask for advice do something different.
  16. Some guys just can't "get on foot" and start asking questions all time. So by being newbie they become noobs. Reason for all of this is failiure and they lost courage (been there don that.) i learned that no mater off fact how much i failed to make good forge and durable i push it too far to that metter i put steel in house wood stove to se how much time it need to get yelow colour. I get suprised that you need 2-3 minute to get yellow glowing color. IF i had somekind anvil in room i would use it but that is just got too far away with my curiosity. I want to say that some folks get all time failiure that's why they ask questions more and more, geting frustrated with failiure they bring somekind bad energy to others .
  17. I always read chrome vanadium on wrenches what that mean.
  18. The blower in pattern look good only transwer this to metal would be nice.
  19. I think to make gears you need band saw.
  20. Only hard part is to make gears. They need to have same teeth i guess same dimension same pass it need a lot's of counting.
  21. Its question. I forgot to put ? in the end off sentence.
