making perferated metal screen
I agree with Mills, look for a supplier who will sell you what you need. You can put a lot of time into something like this to say nothing of drill bit/punch consumption.

Question about Andirons
They were used to warm a cup of rum or cider (wine, too I suppose) and to also hold small kettles or basting pans for cooking.

I need guidlines on hardning and tempering a spring
I agree with Finnr. I also have a 4" vise that I made a spring for from mild steel. No attempat at heat treatment. Been in service for about 3 years and seems to work fine. Simple and quick.

Duty cycle of a welder (the machine)
I don't know what happens when the duty cycle of the machine is exceeded since that duty cycle (20%, 40%, whatever) ALWAYS seems to exceed my own personal duty cycle. :)

New Anvils
I have one of the colonial pattern anvils from the original pour. I've been using it as a demo anvil and as a handy "roll around" in the shop at home. Mine weighs 104# and I want to say that it's the "working-est" 104 pounder that you'll find anywhere. The choice of H-13 by Jymm was an excellent one. The pattern never fails to generate interest at public demos. Thanks, Jymm, for putting out a quality product that will certainly last a lifetime. Gerald Franklin Black Bull Forge Duncan, OK (USA)

The Artist Blacksmith Quarterly?
I've been subscribing for several years, pay by check and haven't had any problems with my subscription. I've never had any occaision to try to contact the publisher by email, but you might try (ugh) snail mail to the address on the masthead.

blacksmithing videos
Check the website for the Upper Midwest Blacksmith Assn UMBA Online and go to their library page. You can get pretty good smithing videos for five bucks each. Quality isn't always "professional" since some of them are done with hand held cameras using the camera mike for audio (shot by blacksmiths, not video producers), but the demonstrations are well worth the $5.
