  4. Here is a insurance story for ya. Had the policy for 12 yrs. Co sent a letter saying we are upgrading files. Sending a local photog to take street pics. 3 mos later an old guy with a camera shows up. 2mos later I get a non renewal notice. I have trees 50yrs old. I have mildew (moss on parts of the roof) I have unpainted wood(pressure treated) on my porch. Flakey paint on my alum siding. Notice arrives same day I am going to call for shop ins( abana) Checked 3 other co. One came out to look. No problem with any of it. Been there before. Bike ins raised from $128 to $1200. Went to independent agent Same coverage same co $ 126. Go Figure. Shop Shop And Shop again. Ken.
  5. Yrs ago in New England we put a old kero heater under the steel bench. Heats up the benchtop and nice air flow out the front. Partner puts a full spray can on top to warm it up. Phone rings he goes in the office. I am sitting on the bench shareing lunch with shop dog. Painted back of my legs, bottom of table, wall and lastly bottom of old Buck. All bright blue. Moral don't put stuff on the stove and DO NOT trust your partner(Buck didn't after that) Ken
  6. Joe, At least the awning over the door is still there. Mine(4ft from where I am sitting) collapsed Fri nite. Spent Sat afternoon on the skidsteer and trackhoe moving the Great wet monster. Anvil is probably real close to where ya left it(I hope) Ken
  7. John, Should be alright. Did the same thing same way about 35yrs ago. Had another welder friend did the magnet thing and ended up with a nasty infection. I'll stick with the pros. Ken.
  8. Hi and welcome, Where in SC? I am in the Asheville NC area. Guild is in Tryon NC ken
  9. My air brush runs on a mini air can. Like a computer blow off can. I also have a tank less compressor plugs into 110-220 gives upto 140psi. Ken
  10. It may be cast but looks to have a thick plate on it. Evan a 100lb anvil is a good starter anvil. I would check with Postman for history and value.
  11. When mine is whistling. It goes to the shop. Have 2 regulators and 3 flow meters ready to go back in service at this time. Had one go out on an o2 reg. blew out the reg also blew out the hose sitting on my leg. Sounds like a 12 ga. Ken
  12. 1st question is how many turns? Had a newbie stop and ask why he couldn't get 4-5 turns with clean oil. I only get about a turn and a half. Ken

Yance, If ya want to mig or tig it holler at me Ken
  15. Phil, a tank like that is going to need a 2-3 foot strip of wool. Even if halved can you fold 1 1/2 foot of wool and cram it thru a 3X8 hole? then you have to do the ends, Put solid brick in the bottom, Then paint thru that 3X8 slot. Much easier to leave the end open or put in a door I think. Ken
  16. Divermike, I see 1 2 3 171lbs I think. Looks good to me. Ken
  17. Frosty, ya could have been from Calif. Would have been a redwood. Don't let the birch sleep alone. stuff in all its friends. Ken
  18. I like the first 4in with a 3/8 radius then tapered to the heel. Might try 1/2 on the latest one. Ken
  19. You need to find one of the small drag along magnets.HF has them i think. 12-20 inch Finds tools and all the little rust makers. Ken
  20. De, Send Frosty out with the dogs he can water them. Paybacks for a birch. Ken
  21. Trying to stuff large enough piece of wool thru a 8X3 hole would be hard enough. Coating it would be worse. Hinged end or open end would be my choice. Most of the tank forges I have seen run 2 burners 3/4in. A single 1in may work. Add your location one of us could be around the corner. Ken
  22. The cast iron brake rotors are only good for yaer art bases IMO. Be careful with the plated bolts(toxic fumes) Forge pans and blowers. I may have to relocate. Ken

And I thought the 12in folder at the flea mkt was big. That is out of the flintstones Kewl. Ken
  24. Phil, Bet your not over 60 des old bones do not like cold and damp. If the gasser is running ok. If welding CNC cutting or fabing I like warm. Ken
  25. Perhaps have the gas co up the pressure. School I went to had 3 3 burner mankels set up to run on methane(landfill gas) First class at school. Stopped there a few mos ago. Converted school to a resident program he had 2 running wasn't bad at all. Ken
