  1. If ya need it inspected don't ask here ask your inspector. Differant locations differant rules. Ken
  2. Another vote to stand it on on a point. The "hardy hole" looks fairly shallow and not thru Not a useful hole IMO. Ken
  3. Made one like it about 25 yrs ago. To get the pump assy out of a laycock overdrive Haven't found another use for it yet. Ken.
  4. Yeh Jer, I knew about moby birch. Ya got back on then didn't post for a long time (for you anyhow)Wondered if ya was OK. Ken
  5. Have brazed several stoves. If the stove or exhaust header gets even close to melting you have a bigger problem. I prefer brass for the thermal cycle of the stove. Ken.
  6. The only time I have had liquid in a regulator was when a fresh tank was delivered with too much acatone in it. Cracked the valve and it squirted about 8 feet out of the tip. Not recommened to take them apart. Been sending mine out for 40 yrs. Ken

  8. When I built mine I used about a foot long bottom plate. Offset the hardy post. Tool is centered on the anvils mass. Ken
  9. Hard to see the face condition. Looks to be a fisher. Anvil is probably about 125 lbs. Stump around 70 lbs. If its close enough I would go look at it. Ken
  10. Now it's got me thinking. I take a 9" bar taper measure and subtract both from what? May just be the oldtimers acting up. Ken
  11. Yes we have all these tax laws. What happened to " NO laws shall be passed without the express consent of the people" The DOT creats laws we have no say. The IRS creats laws we have no say, State and local govt you guessed it we have no say. They say pay tax on what you buy then pay again when you sell. Who gave them the right to tax our labor? Sorry I am just tired of paying for fools lovers ect. Ken
  12. Sam, Leather up is good under 60. Over a ton a suit of armor ain't going to help. I am the not so proud owner of a $18K leg got that one going 60 to 12 in a a heartbeat. Pickup truck with a I beam rear bumper. Still scooting 20yrs later. Ken
  13. Herchammer, It's after 1908 and the whole top half is tool steel. I have a 142lb great anvil. Ken
  14. I may get hammered for this one but here goes, If there are concerns about paint hiding flaws why would ya leave it on. I picked up only 1 out of 5 painted. Cleaned it checked it for cracks or other nastys. then blacked it with stove black like the others. BTW stove black won't hide flaws. I was raised to value and take care of my tools rust(patina) is not an option. Ken

  22. Much better to have a hammer softer than the anvils face way easier to dress a hammer. Ken
  23. Intake restriction? I would think if the compressor is working properly it would compress the thin air. Might take a little longer. Ken
  24. There were also imported trentons. Bocker(spl) worked with/for trenton. Have to dig out AIA to check. It seems that back in the day you could have a major manufacture put your name on them if ya ordered enough. Looks like a great one. Ken
