  1. Kohlswa has no face plate. It is a solid cast steel anvil. Great anvils. As an old swede I would love to have one. Alas they always go higher than I care to go. Havent looked back but it's probably on my watch list. Ken
  2. Reddy kero heater on a timer and thermostat. Starts 30 minutes befor I do stopps when I stop. Ken
  3. Now he's just a chip off the old (birch) block. Ken
  4. fish, Welcome, The 55lb HF really isn't much. Get the iron as hot as you can and don't miss. Also not too big a hammer. Anvil is cast iron no matter what the box says. Hit it with your hammer or hit less than yellow heat it will dent/chip. Ken
  5. If the elm is a big one not to worry. Only one (out of 3) that I have thoughts about is a 88 lb H-B mounted on a stump small enough that the feet are right on the edge. Anchor it down tight and roll it around on the edge. Ken
  6. HMMM 2 Henery Wrights, 2 differant letters, One with stone weight on the other side. One look like lbs under the name. First one looks beat to death. Ken
  7. I'll second that. Give Steve or David a call their great guys. Haven't seen Tom since the abana meeting at Kaynes, He hasen't been answering us locals either. Ken
  8. Hey Frosty, See what happens when ya switch from iron to wood. Ken
  9. Definatly do not toss the track. I carved a great looking track 37lbs within a yr I have aquired 7 real anvils. 3 have been passed on. Now have 2 H-Bs 1 Trenton 1 Fisher and you guessed it the track. Great portable/jewelery/gunsmithing anvil. Don't need the trackhoe to move it. Ken
  10. Right on look at the effort required to drive the second piece in. Ken
  11. I think the issue here is unstinking the house. Hard to sell if the buyers are gagging. Good luck with this one. Ken
  12. Grant he did say the pressure was too low for a NC. I remember at school (blown methane forges) low pressure caused a scramble to shut them down. Ken
  13. Great lathe if your making clock/gun/jewelry parts. Had one like it when I was into clocks. Ken.
  14. KY, give Dennis a call. Best place for advice is the one who made it. He also has replacement panels. Ken
  15. Not into blades however both the hoglegs look great. Leather looks a little short on this one. Ken
  16. Unicorn, Been welding about 45 yrs. Never tried that but don't think it would be any different than Tig. Now Tig will bite ya if ground your elbow,(Watched the wife do that) Xxxx if she didn't keep right on going. Ken
  17. I think we hijacked this thread but I don' care. Frosty ya got the right answer. Trackhoes and skid steers make life easier. As long as we don't tip um over. Great to hear all of you are well. Pet the dogs pat the goats and HUG Deb for me. Hope to one day to get up there. Ken
  18. If your selling call in the pros. Do it urself will cost ya. Make sure its not still around. Had a friend thought he fixed it only to find the polecat in the crawlspace. Ken
  19. Phil, $100-$500 For a lock? Some of us are country boys. $500 may be a months profit. Ken.
  20. Just a thought. I have used 2 tanks for heating. Had a switch over manifold. One tank at a time. Keep an eye on the indicator and never run out of gas. 2 tanks manifolded toghter will run out toghter. Ken
  21. And one for a spare and one for parts. grin Ken
  22. John, I think the bigger threat today is someone getting hurt and sueing. Ken
  23. Just a note. He who has the most/best tools wins. BS he who has the most/best tools while alive and using them wins. Lets see you have 10 power hammers and you are dead your heirs will sell them for scrap. Did you win I think not. Ken
  24. Aral, Have a few thoughts on your anvil. PM me if you and dad would like to share. Dad has done great for ya I thank you sir. Ken
  25. adam, Yeh that was me. Are you going to make it down to the guild meeting the 19th? Am going to try to make that one. Ken
