  1. Furnace burner Today I was able to get a FREE chunk of railroad rail! Saw some railroad workers working on the tracks and asked if they had any drop or where I could get scraps. He took me over to the truck and pulled out a 15” section and gave it to me!!! Thank You!!! This was just outside of my neighbor’s glass studio. So I stopped in to say Hi. My neighbor gave me a Furnace burner and said if I could use it he had 6 more. I know it is setup for natural gas but???????? Could it be used as a forced air ribbon burner? I have not build a burner yet so this is something that I may play with late after I get some experience with more traditional burners. Does anyone have any other ideas about the burner?
  2. Dumpster diving – Keep your eyes open people throw lots of good stuff to build with away! My storage areas at my house are over flowing with good useable materials that I get for FREE!!!
  3. Electrolytic Rust Removal I'm don't saying this is what your looking for but it might. http://www.instructables.com/id/Electrolytic-Rust-Removal-aka-Magic/

  5. I’ve seen you other trees also and I think they are awesome!! Thanks again for letting me stop by your shop and check it out. I do appreciate it.
  6. I have these two hunks of metal 18 x 7.5 x 2. They were tool decks (don’t know what else to call them) in a machine shop. They were given to me I have lots of ideas but maybe your idea is better! Just checking! The only anvil I have right now is a harbor freight one so that is where I may start with one of them. Fun answers welcome!! PS NO you can't have them!
  7. This is the start of my forge. The body was a 4' propane tank I cut it in half. The refractory material was from an old glory hole my neighbor made and didn’t need and gave to me. The glory hole was made out of a 50 gallon barrel and I started cutting on that to make it smaller. I then decided to use the propane tank instead. So I have plenty of refractory material for this forge and any other projects in the future. I will make a pass-through in it. I plan on making it a 3 burner and that is where I’m at right now. I have two hamster cage fans if I ever want to build a forced air burner but I plan on building venture (naturally aspirated) burner. Need to make the first burner and do some testing to decide how I want to layout the rest of the forge. All my tools need to be mobile so that I can store them so put them on wheels. The other pics are some of the materials that I have collected over the years for FREE. Here is my share of what I am doing!!

  11. I’m working on building a propane gas forge. I live in town don’t want to xxxx off the neighbors with the smoke. Also my one neighbor is a glass blower and gave me his old home made gas glory hole so I am downsizing it to be more efficient to heat metal. I’m doing research on the burner that is the step I’m on right now. My goals are to make my own tool as much as possible because I enjoy that part also. Eventually making decretive pieces and more. I took a continuing education blacksmithing class at CSU and have been hooked ever since!
