  1. my current forge (canadian forge co.) has a clinker breaker and i dont like it as much as my older forge without one, sadly i sold the smaller old one for the newer bigger one, coal and coke will vary in size. My coke is in peices of about 1/2" to 3/4" peices but when it burns down into peices of 3/8 and smaller they can fall through the gaps, i need to figure out some kind or grate to put in it instead Josh
  2. it has been sitting around under my workbench looking for a home, i dont know if i will be keeping it josh
  3. no idea... just thaught it would look awesom maybe 1095 and 15n20?
  4. mine have many differant names but mostly just their pattern, my main forging hammer (a 2lb right hand diagonal pein hammer made by rthibeau) is named crunch because the first day i had it my dad tried to drive a nail with it and the face was too rounded, it skipped off the nail and broke his finger (hence the crunch) and every day that i am at the forge for more than an hour it gets a diagonal line burnt into the handle. when the handle has too many lines to hold anymore, i will remove the handle and get a new one, stain and laquer the old one and hang it on the wall of my shop
  5. i went to a farm auction the other dat and fouud a working colombian bench vice, 6 inch jaws opens to 18" smooth and no rust to speak of (painted black).... what is it worth? I payed $2.50 CDN
  6. ok thanks justin, i have a bunch of scrap but i would really like some quality steel, i just didnt want to go spend that much money on quality steel only to fint that it wouldnt be the best bang for my bucks josh

  10. NICE! how about a stacked handle, simple looking but the contrast in the layers could play off the steel nicely

  19. Nice, i like the handle wrap (and blade), how is it wrap done?
  20. ya when i buy at the local place they give you a report on the type of steel and some specs on it, i also get a TON of cutoffs anything under 10ft is considered a cutoff, and none of the fabricators buy cutoffs and the owner likes me so i get them cheap.... so i get a lot of known steel, and even more unknown steel
