I know, I know everyone before me has probably made a dozen of this but I found a new scrapyard to dig in yesterday and along with a truck load of goodies I picked this tank up. Yes I was dreaming of bacon this morning when I stuff this together lol!

Here's a movement sculpture for the garden. She moves in the slightest breeze. The first spring I used for the body was way too soft to carry the head and arms and she was more inclined to touch her toes than sway as intended. I cut that spring out and found a beefier one, trimmed to length to have the best flex. The legs are a pair of bolt cutters, the head is made of gearbox bits and the arms are a long U-bolt. Fingers are piano pegs. The skirt is made from keys from a cash register, and her top is a pair of stainless coil things from a power line. I've done a few of these of various sizes and find it's best if you keep the left leg vertical and left arm in li…

As you guys know I've been messing around welding up bAre and rusty scrap metal sculptures. While some are better to let rust outdoors still others are not. Some of these little tabletop pieces are meant for indoor display and I think the should stay as close to the they were made. my question is: what do you guys use and find best as a top coat- clear coat? I'm thinking Rust-oleum. Thanks in advance for your input!

So I went total old school with this Chopper. I fabricated a classic ridged frame complete with a springer front end, coffin tank (hard to see in the light) Panhead motor, open primary, large pan seat (made from a Harley Z bracket) ape hangers and the classic no fender stock wheel set up.

Sometimes you feel like an idiot. I was making this candlestick from a broken wheel brace and used a piece of heavy stainless steel as a spacer to hold it straight in the vice to weld the base on. Forgot that I wouldn't be able to move the spacer afterwards, so there it stays. Duh! And the candle doesn't like the 40 degree heat in my shed.

While making a bull's head bottle opener recently I was a bit careless punching the eyes. Usually I get them level, but a slip with the punch left one eye lower than the other. The result is a strange looking bull. However, it led to an idea. Why not make a cow's head that looks a bit crazy? So I did a couple of bottle openers with cow's heads deliberately dodgy. I think they might go well at a popular Townsville nightclub called 'The Mad Cow' , so I stamped that on the shaft. Any other ideas of how to make a crazy looking cow?

I had a box of scrap wrenches laying around and decided to put em to work. Larger version was the first go, the second was for a repeat customer that's going to the lower 48. I was lazy on the first one and didn't feel like firing up the forge, I think the smallet one came out much nicer.

This is a Byzantine Chainmail weave, made from 1/2" spring steel. The rings are 6" in diameter. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, anyone wanna throw an idea at me? I will probably need more pictures.

More practice in the shop today. While waiting for the rigidizer to cure in my new forge I decided to get some more practice in so I made this "Nutty Scorpion". These things seem to be popular so I gave one a shot then I had a couple once done lol.

This was one of my first "commissioned" pieces if you will. I had a lady contact me and ask if I could do something she saw on Pintrest, I gave it a go. I'm a newb at this whole thing, just trying to gain experience and knowledge as I keep working.

This is a small pendant I made after seeing one at a small rock show in Ohio. I made this one from a single 1/2" ball bearing, and an old nail. I hope I'm in the proper topic, I don't see one for jewelry specific smithing. Sorry for the poor picture its the best I could do.

I have a bucket of bicycle chain and gears. I was successful at making a few small items however I am having much difficulty trying to shape weld and straight line weld the chain. There always seems to be a few links that don't take or the weld is just to gooberd up with to much bead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have a lot of visions I'd like to put into reality. Thank you gents (and ladies)!
