February 14, 201610 yr Well, since i am new i wanted to show a bit of my work. Im no Pro, just making it for fun in the scarce free time. Since you are new I only deleted your photos, and not your account. Take a moment to actually read the terms of service you legally signed that you read, and said you would follow before posting again. FYI it was very beautiful work you have there.
February 15, 201610 yr I think I showed some of this wooden gate hardware on iforgeiron previously, but here is a brief look. Installed last year.
February 15, 201610 yr I think the woodwork is just as good as the metalwork. How long do you expect the wood to stay solid? I guess in New Mexico it is pretty dry....
February 15, 201610 yr I was about to say the very same thing but thought it may be off topic. That is a seriously beautiful piece of joinery there. And, of course, the ironwork complements the timber artistry very well.
March 5, 20179 yr Fiddling around with dragons heads made from all thread. Thoughts? the threads give it a cool scaled look.
March 5, 20179 yr Nice dragon's heads. I think the clean threads look too much like threads but the one you softened with a hammer look more scale like. I like them. Frosty The Lucky.
March 5, 20179 yr Thanks. I left the full threads to show the original material. The last one with the upset chest is the version I've settled on.
March 5, 20179 yr Great dragons! Now, how many heats did you take to upset that threaded rod in the last picture? I do that with snakes' heads to give more mass, but always have trouble keeping things straight. Maybe I try to do too much with one heat. Your upsetting is substantial and perfectly conical ... any tips?
March 5, 20179 yr Thanks . I close my eyes and SWING......hehe pretty much just dumb luck. , I start with a small ball peen and work my way up to larger ones. takes 4-5 heats. I'm really not one to take tips from though..... Much smaller. And made from cable "Damascus"
March 6, 20179 yr Those are some cool dragon heads 58er. They would make great cane toppers. Nice looking roses as well.
