September 26, 201312 yr Maybe he'll show up here wanting advise.........I can think of one, don't weld high carbon steel with common mig wire. SS with 75/25 works much better......Probly on a tight budget...lol http://www.nme.com/news/bob-dylan/72846#1

September 26, 201312 yr The cultivator? tines on the top of his gate look exactly like the ones they were making in the plant I was in earlier this week.
September 27, 201312 yr I laughed. Anyone note that he welded over the already-painted metal? Probably had to make sparks for the photo shoot and this is the one they decided to use.
October 12, 201510 yr Saw this and thought it was interesting. http://hai.cn.com/news/bob-dylan-mood-swings-exhibition-film
October 13, 201510 yr I find it interesting when someone like him has a hobby that is so different than their profession/public persona. Edited October 13, 201510 yr by BIGGUNDOCTOR
October 13, 201510 yr Right up my alley, I love that kind of stuff! ('Course that might have something to do with my slight infatuation with my welder!)
October 15, 201510 yr If he ditched the MIG and started forge welding it'd be like he's gone from electric to acoustic.
October 25, 201510 yr The first link in this thread is dead so I can't be sure but is this work by the Bob Dylan? I'm impressed.
October 26, 201510 yr it is indeed THE Bob Dylan. I don't know if this is the same article but here is a story from 2013http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2499933/Bob-Dylans-homemade-iron-gates-display-Londons-Halcyon-Gallery.html
September 8, 20169 yr And he's at it again. Is it any good? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.... http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/bob-dylan-to-unveil-enormous-iron-archway-in-maryland-w438057
September 9, 20169 yr Meh. Pretty unexciting work. We have members on here who do found art sculptures that are way more interesting. ANYONE can mig weld stuff into a 2d frame. It's when you learn the skills to forge radical 3 dimensional cross sectional changes into a piece AND use those same forging processes to assemble the thing that it really sings to me. Look at the work of Dimitri Gerikeras, Alan Evers, Jake James, Roberto Giordani, Alfred Habberman, Jeffery Funk, Brett Moen, Albert Paley. They all really understand the ascetic of forged sculpture and use it to produce work that is far more interesting than mig welding some gears and wrenches together. Fairly sure I misspelled some names above, my apologies.
September 9, 20169 yr And if his MIG welds aren't any good, he looks at it and thinks, "Don't Fall Apart On Me Tonight".
