Show me your truck!

Featured Replies

Okay, we've seen your shop, your anvil, your forge, but another important part of the craft is our truck. Or the car we use as a truck. Here's the progression I went through. (No photos to show at the moment.)

'68 Chevy van, '81 Buick Skylark, '71 GMC Sprint (like an El Camino) and now a '95 Dodge Dakota 1/2 ton.

So lets see what you are using to haul your goodies. Cars, trucks, business trucks with fancy paint jobs, things that make it special to you, etc.

No, this isn't my truck, but amazing what's out there!

No pictures of my battered 1990 (made September of 1989) Isuzu 4 banger. I'm sure that all my trucks go directly to heaven having experienced purgatory whilst in my care...

Ok, Here's mine loaded with redwood slabs for 2 tables. Its a '05 Dodge 3500 diesel. Best rig I've ever had!

Anybody really want to look at a 2001 Chevy Cavalier, somewhat beaten up, in dark blue?

Didn't think so.

Phil

I totally do, especially if you've got a pic showing it comically-loaded with blacksmithing supplies.

.... and here's mine: an '03 F-350 4x4 diesel. It's one of the "dreaded" early-build 6.0 engines, and I've got 117,000 trouble-free miles on it. That includes quite a bit of travel off the beaten path in Baja California. That's me, tying a rope to the hitch to try and get unstuck!

If I ever have it comically overloaded with blacksmithing supplies I will post it. I have had it comically overloaded with bales of insulation before. I couldn't even get up to 55MPH!

Petrol or diesel?

Here's my $800 truck. 1986 Chevy 4x4 with 4 speed. Low milage truck too. I think it has around 68,000 miles or so on it when I got it.

My big truck is a 1991 F-super duty dually with a service box. Used it to haul the beaudry hammer i bought a few years ago.

My everyday driver for the last year has been a 4wd 2000 GMC Sonoma. Used it to haul a large die block and and several hundred pounds of other steel home last year. More recently it helped me drag a Kerrihard power hammer home.

Good to see everyones' rides. Here's a couple of mine. The 1-1/2 ton is a '33 Ford. Bought it at a farm auction for $300 back in the late '70's. Flat head V-8. Did all new wiring, body work myself and got new upholstery and paint. Had the doors painted like back in the '30's. Tried to use it as my truck for shows. Even went up to New England with it, but it was so low geared that top speed was 50 plus it had mechanical brakes! Broke down once near Harrisburg and took 2 months just to get the parts. Had to let her go.

Now I have a '95 Dodge Dakota. Good truck but rides like one. Now the clear coat is starting to come off on the hood and roof. It just turned over 125,000 miles. I drew up the sign on the back and had it laser cut out of stainless and then I glass beaded it.

99 silvedrado, very camera shy, 200,500+ miles and running strong.

I bought my 2000 F150 new just before going to Caniron in Saskatchewan. So I was back at the dealer a couple weeks later for the third oil change, and one of the owners of the dealership came by to ask me how I was liking my new truck.(my first brand new vehicle) I pointed out the scratches inside the box and told him that it was now a truck unlike most who buy a car that looks like a truck.

My truck is a 1972 Chevy C-20 Camper Special Custom Delux. It has about 92,000 miles and I am the second owner after my Father-in-Law. Mine is really a 1 ton, has leaf spring rear end unlike the majority of the 1972 chevy's that had coil overs.
