  1. Great projects everyone. I haven't had much time to spend at the forge lately, but was able to play with some old horseshoes a lady at work brought me so I made her a couple of horseshoe cowboys warming up at the fire and a birdfeeder.
  2. Prayers sent for you and your family
  3. I think bois d'arc, would have a nice contrast.
  4. Basher, Beautiful work. You and Petr make a great pair that compliments each other's work.
  5. I would be on my way there right now. I got my 136# Mousehole by asking an old farmer I knew if he knew where any anvils were, he said "when can you come by the house"? My Fisher was brought to me by a co-worker we call Sanford and Son when I asked him to keep an eye open for an anvil. Asking don't cost anything.
  6. 3 years ago I picked up a 1988 Bronco, that had been parked and left for 20 years, the engine was froze up. I filled all the cylinders with the 50/50 mix, let it sit for a week and turned it over with a 12 inch wrench on the crank nut. Replaced the fuel system fired it up and have been driving it since.
  7. Peppie, that is a very neat fab job, one of the best I’ve seen
  8. Das, I showed the pictures of your beautiful girls to my wife and we both shed some tears talking about when our girls were young. The pictures brought back wonderful memories. You have your priorities in order, family comes first and everything else will come together. You’re customers will understand that you have more important things to take care of at the present moment and will be willing to wait for your work.
  9. Das, congratulations!! You have two lovely daughters and it looks like big sis is going to be a lot of help and will watch over her like a hawk. There are many happy days in your future. My girls are 38&30, both watch over each other and will do anything for the other, yours will do the same.
  10. Everyone is doing great work, I'm enjoying seeing all of it and getting new ideas. Das, congratulations on soon to be arrival, I will place your family on my prayer list, keep all of us posted. Billy and all of our other veterans, thank you for your service and please have your annual physicals. I lost my dad in 2017 to cancer, that was caused by exposure to chemicals while he was in Korea and 2 trips to Viet Nam. When the cancer was detected it was too late
  11. Completed two orders for outside fire pokers this weekend. Started out making one for my daughter to go with the fire pit I made her, now have made 7, unfortunately my wife has given half of them away when I show them to her. I keep telling her I have it sold, but "she needs it now for a gift for someone". I tricked her this time and didn't show them to her. But it is giving me practice and I feel I'm improving, especially on the forge weld on the end. DSW, nice job, I especially like the two tone wood handle.
  12. CGL, you are doing very nice work and it is showing with people requesting it. Alexandr, amazing, as always!
  13. Kershaw folder, either my 1911(first choice) or my S&W 45 shield, depending on what I'm wearing, my ear plugs, keys and wallet.
  14. Basher, thanks for the description, I thought that was some layers of wrought iron, but I’m new at this and wasn’t sure. It really adds a beautiful look to the blade.
  15. Beat and Bang Forge, I'll let you figure out why it got named that.
  16. GuardedDig2, you are doing very good work. I like all the knives, but the folder really caches my eye.
  17. Ohio, I have used the multi process machines 25+ years, they are great, but I've only used ones made by the big 3. I haven't tried any of the inexpensive knockoffs.
  18. That is amazing! great job on the blade and handle. Please describe the different layers and patterns in the blade,
  19. Bobasaurus, A Pipeliner disk is about 3/16 thick, thinner than a grinding disk, thicker than a cut off disk. It's designed to clean up the welds on pipe between weld passes, fits into the v groove and cuts on the edge, like a cut off disk, instead of the face like a grinding disk.
  20. I'd use a pipeliner disk, it's made to cut on the edge, to get most of it cleaned up then the flap to finish dressing it. Looking at your weld I'd recommend slowing down and giving the weld time to fill out moving ahead slower and smoother.
  21. My lab/Catahoula picks and eats figs. We had to put our cat down Friday, cancer got the best of him. The dog walked around in the shop Saturday crying and looking for him.
  22. Ohio, The overhead extension cords are good for keeping the cord off the floor. Some of them have a breaker mounted at the reel and are a pain to reset if you have to use a ladder every time they trip, make sure you get one rated for the tools you will be using. I mounted all the receptacles in my shop about 4 1/2ft. off the floor, they are above my benches that my tools are set on, I can mount my benches against the walls, pile the shelves under the table full of stuff, store items along the walls and still have easy access to all of the receptacles, and I don't have to bend over, or move items, to plug/unplug things up.
  23. Did you show him knife #2? That may cover the work.
  24. Very good looking knife that I hadn’t heard of before and had to do some research on. Interesting concept on the grind making it easier to cut and sharpen as well as which side to fuller depending on if the user is left or right handed.
