Very nice looking anvil. I like the size and the lines on it. Very well thought out anvil.

From what I am understanding Anvil, the reason for the hardened high carbon steel plate or cast steel anvil is more for wear/longevity with the side affect of great rebound and slightly better forging characteristics.

Yes, good horse, from what I understand the anvils of Germany will break their edges if you work with a lot of cold work. It is because their anvils are very hard. Maybe if you connect with one of the yunqes factories in the United States they can tell you how much it costs to ship to Spain. Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for.

I drive past a rail yard about a dozen times a year and whenever I see a rail repair crew I ask them if they have any drops. I've walked away with some pretty nice drops for just a smile and question.

If you throw it away, throw it my way lol. That's still a good anvil. I picked up a slightly smaller swedish anvil in Evanston, Wyoming for $100 that also has beat up edges. But you should be able to get a bit more then that for it.

Ditto on the rubber mat. It works wonders.

I have been watching and learning alot from your videos, I am glad there are some of you that take the time to show how it is done properly in a video. I find it complements the books I have read. It is nice to see not only written but also in action. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.

Kyle, check out Wasach Forge. Ask for Matt. He is the owner, they are on about 3300 south and 300 west in South Salt Lake. They have been on fif a couple of times and won. Matt always has tool steel drops you can buy to use as anvils. I believe he sells them for $.75 a lb. I picked up a 5"x5" x7" s7 drop in trade for a granite block. Matt wanted to try and forge on granite. Wasatch Forge also gives classes. I would invite you over but my setup is torn up right now so it's unusable.

I'm in northern Utah but I have family in Phoenix. Welcome read up on the improvised anvil thread, sometimes its easier and cheeper to find an improvised anvil to begin with. I use my improvised anvils just as much as my "real anvil".

I like the drum idea Charles. I have an over abundance of 55 gallon drums at work. I think I'll grab one and start building.
