  1. It looks great Jen DSW, thank you! I follow that description very well. They look really good
  2. Yesterday was hot and humid. Around 90°. Got the tail end of a storm last night. Now the wind is out of the north with gusts around 30 or 40 mph. It's a crapshoot with the weather here
  3. Jennifer, you gave the hot cut a nice facelift. Looks like a brand new tool. Roger, nice work. I like the look of the wood. DSW, great looking tongs. Do the jaws start out long then welded back onto themselves and bent? Very nice
  4. Thanks for all the help everyone. While in the process, I thought it might be better to move to a lighter hammer, but I think it was a move too late at that point. I tried it till I had this gnarly, blistered piece of metal which I was sure wasn't going to work anyway. I'll try the 20 mule team and I'll move one of my smaller anvils closer to the forge. arkie, that might be the way I go to try welding. I was looking through some videos this morning and that is a suggestion a lot of them have too.
  5. Thanks Neil. I appreciate the good information. I'll do some more studying up on the subject because now I'm determined
  6. I think I was around 10 or 11 PSI. I'm not sure where I should run it. It was nearly white when I took the piece out. After watching your video again, the fault could possibly have been in the scarf. But that's just a thought I'll take some 20 Mule out tomorrow and try it again. If I fail, I'll try to take careful note of what I'm doing or not doing fir that matter.
  7. So I tried it. I got the shape done pretty easily. Got the scarfs to line up good. But I didn't get a forge weld. I think I wasn't getting a high enough heat? Or lack of flux. I have some 20 mule team but I didn't bring any out with me. Don't know because I've never tried to forge weld before. But I will try again
  8. I think I may try this today. I'm going to forge some little S hooks for the doors on the rabbit run. I don't like the plain Z hooks in there so I thought I'd add a little blacksmithery to them instead. That won't take long so I may give the chain a go. Thanks for posting this up Jennifer
  9. Do you raise rabbits perhaps? And welcome to the forum. You're already posting pictures. That's great. What would you be interested in forging? Anything and everything? Or a certain thing? Y'all are already being safe. Just remember have fun
  10. That is beautiful. I come from a town where the Rail Road used to be a really big deal. They have an annual 3 day festival called Depot Days. It's getting to be a smaller event every year. It seems like the history is getting swept into non existence. I think it's great you made such a wonderful piece to commemorate the town's history and keep it alive.
  11. Already sent and we will keep on with it as well.
  12. Another great looking piece of art. Well done, Aus.
  13. Very good looking blades. Thank you for showing us the wonderful work you've done.
  14. Good work on the axe and hammers Benona. One of these days, maybe I'll try making a hammer
  15. JHCC, nice work. The scribe looks awesome as does the flower. Billy, yes, I've been having lots of trouble getting on. But today is going smooth. I love your table leg design. Your getting better all the time. Chris, nice looking tool there. Did you make the cross in front of your anvil? I was going to post a picture of the "Baby Bear" set of child's table ware I made. But i can't get it to load.
  16. bluerooster and CC, thank you both. The knife is from an odd size piece of flat bar and the other pieces are 3/8" round. Dogsoldat, nice work. I'll have to make me a dragonfly one of these days.
  17. I always try to comment on the fine work everyone shows off. My signal or data or whatever it is keeps tanking, so I don't get to get on very much. But there's lots of great things to look at. bluerooster, sorry to hear that. I haven't done a lot because I've been so busy in Coronavirus World with other things. But here's some that I still need to finish up. His, hers, and baby makes three. I've got another knife in the shop and I've got a fork to forge still to go with the little spoon. Not perfect of course, but I'm getting it down. Each piece teaches me what I need to do better next time.
  18. Tommie is the same way when it comes to slaughtering. He doesn't like it either. I don't do any of that myself but I would if it was mine to do. We make sure that any animal or bird we raise has the greatest quality of life we can give them no matter what their destination is. They deserve it
  19. Maybe I spelled it wrong. Ornery maybe!? But those wethers stil think they are bucks sometimes you know There are some Nigerian dwarfs down the way from us. The other day I was driving by and the two little bitty kids were standing on mama's back. It was the cutest thing
  20. Aww thanks Charles! I do love those babies. I don't have any babies right now. I've got one young wether that's gonna find his way to the table sooner rather than later if he keeps jumping the fence and getting stuck. Plus, he's honary as " you know what".
  21. I love it! It appeals to both the artist in me and my other alter ego, the Crazy Chicken Lady Fantastic
