Lionel h replied to therepairman1557's topic in Blacksmithing, General Discussion
Thanks for the video I want to make some handles like that been watching all I can see . I've tried once but didn't turn out very good I will try again. -
Good score that can be used to fix post vises and plenty of steel to make several other things . You could even make you own vise .

Looked really close couldn't find any markings opposite side from trademark stamp

I know this has been posted before so I'm not claiming it , an old house screw jack has the same screw threads . They are the same on the two I've tried.

The stamp is barely legible I might try to get you a better pict of it . It's been a long time since I looked at it so I couldn't really describe it accurately . What are you looking for in particular ?

It resembles my mouse hole but I'm no authority -

I found a Swedish made anvil 125 pounds with a couple of hardy tools on a wooden block stand . He will sell to me for 300 U.S. Icant read any other words or markings except made in Sweden on it . I'm going to look at it and will try to get Pictures , are any of the Swedish anvils of lesser quality than any others? It looks like a sodofors anvil in the Picts I've seen and looks to be in very good shape . thanks for any advise.

Try soaking in acetone and marvel mystery oil in equal parts for several days ,then heat and then quench with the same mixture. I've broken loose several things doing this method. Good luck just don't give up. Give it a few hammer blows before quenching ,I forgot to mention.

I made a stand out of 2 by 10 lumber cut to the height I needed then used a tube of construction glue about an inch thick under the anvil , it really helped silence mine . Before it was a ringing bell

I tried electrolysis on a post vise I got and it was rusted locked up. I made a rewire basket to line my plastic tub turned on my welder low as it can go with vise suspended into the solution . I ran it several hours over two days , I was able to break it loose. Now I need to get a spring for it made to complete the restoration.
