  1. I am not too sure about that, Brother, but I may take up chanting, "problems are good, problems are gooood, problems are.....", when I am crawling around the yard...
  2. Although your question has been well answered, I would like to add that a "diamond wheel" can vary widely in construction and application, as also pointed out by JHCC. For example, when grinding carbide brazed on tool steel, the diamond wheel must at times grind into the tool steel to maintain claerance geometries. One would select a resin bonded wheel, typically, designed for 70% carbide and 30% tool steel contact. On the other hand, CBN can be a lot of fun and satisfaction as it glides through carbon and high speed steels, durable, somewhat forgiving cool cutting dry, and holding their form well, when in a ridgid setup. 3. Color, NICE! I have killed many birds, and have butchered many more. No longer have the stomach for it.
  4. $5.60 / gal today. Robert Taylor
  5. Anvil, I like rivets! But although I am not caught up with this thread, the thermited column suggested, handles out, scorched and melted, resonates with me most! Sorry, I am not willing to donate any of mine... Robert Taylor
  6. Yep, I think you are safe to call it 3,200#. Drooling here, til the day you have her placed! And thanks again, Scott! Robert Taylor
  7. The only scale reference accidentally given are the empty beverage cans in the trash can . Given the horrible lack of information on line, you may find your self in a unique position to curate the information that you gain from the recovery and refurb of this machine. Because Bliss went on to build many mechanized presses, data on your new aquisition are nearly non-existent. Here is what I can offer: on the blog page for ronreil dot abana dot org, (find in text: Hopkins, or, way toward the bottom of his blog), you will find an image of a Hopkins # 2 disassembled and loaded into the back of a pickup truck. Use this for scaling against YOUR press. He cites the weight at 1,400#. similar footprints for H-frames cite weights of around 2,000# and up. Again, you have a bonified adventure on your hands. I would not be surprised if your Bliss #3 exceeds ten working tons on the ram (20,000#). Soon, you will become our top authority! Robert Taylor Addendum: Thanks to Scott Nodebt, we have something from the horses mouth - Found by searching "google books presses dies and special machinery". Please note that machine weight for a #3 is shown as 3,200#...
  8. What are your ballistic aspirations? In other words, what do you want to fire and to what distance? Ha ha but not really kidding...
  9. Wow. I hope you heal quickly and completely. I have been hot swarfed on the lens, did not enjoy that, to say the least. Many great points brought out here, but I wish to focus on Iron Dragons' "are you going to hit it or look at it" remark, heard Thomas drop that line, as well. The closer you have your eyes to your hot work, the more difficulty you are likely to encounter, as bounded by the pesky inverse square law. If your face feels hot, be assured that your eyes will be feeling hotter, though one may not notice. In short, best to observe glowing metal from a distance, and learn the tricks and tells as earlier laid down. hammer head rubbing, that is a good one. I think it goes back to look at it or hit it, though, as in training your machinery to strike true. Hit it with my arm, not my eye? Hopefully I will use my amber IR glasses more often... Robert Taylor
  10. May I ask what type of device you intend to apply this pair of magnets to? Robert Taylor
  11. I here that, Frosty, we just lost an air ambulance crew of four on a Learjet, a month ago.
  12. I appreciate that you are showing us the cosmotized phase of your implicitly grevious bodily injury. Quite a spread, Aric.
  13. Sorry to hear that Thomas, I hope her sibling comes out OK.... Robert Taylor
  14. Happy Birthday Das, good luck Scott. My sweetheart fires my AKM from the hip, but she keeps her go to .357 mag in my boxer shorts drawer. Nice present SHC. Lovely rose, JHCC!
  15. Have no idea of what precedes my post, save a mention of a walking stick axe? And some nice looking hafted iron. Hope to get a look. Well, then I have run short of Gozintas, need a dozen, here go the first three. This will get my receiver hitch post vise back on line. Walking 30 feet up and down a hill can be rewarding, doing it for no good purpose can be more than tedious. These are pretty much ready for the weld. Robert Taylor
  16. Yes, it is, as it indicates deposition of the heavier minerals... JHCC, that would make you a stand alone stone? Robert Taylor
  17. Very good, thanks, still waiting on an update... Robert Taylor OK, Just heard that she is improving, not ready to be let out of the Hospital, thanks All.
  18. Thanks you guys! I have not had a chance to meet her, and am hoping to fellowship with the live version, the Powers willing...
  19. Hey all you People, My Cousin Phyllis turned 80 today she is in the ER with difficulty breathing. Stuck in ER, for lack of beds. You People are the Best. Pour it on! Robert and Sheila Taylor
