  6. Taz575, I would like to see the p/n, or spec on that crusted dresser. Trizact belts are indeed dressable, on harder materials, they are self-dressing. The other type of belt that is a candidate for dressing, is seeded gel (ceramic). For seeded gels in the grind department, we had to use a special $250 SG single point diamond dresser. SG belts may also be self dressing with harder materials and higher feed pressures. This would apply more to the coarser grits. Your mileage may vary... Robert Taylor Addendum: JHCC, I agree about not changing worn belts.
  7. Thanks, George, exciting to see that iron, and to read the article. Robert Taylor
  8. Although not up to date with this thread, nothing beats a good sabot. Before I apprenticed myself with gun drills, I had to come up with a pretty fancy sabot to hold those things in the indexer. Point first or head first?

  10. Bayviewforge, if you type 'forgeable steel alloys' into your favorite search engine; Google for example, you will get more information than I can read in a month. Seriously, I looked it over, and it will completely cover your question, no matter how you phrase it. Happy reading! Robert Taylor

I will add that the wheely stand on mine is junk, as is the case on many of these saws of a thousand names. I mounted mine on a wheeled platform... 13. Welcome, Mike, from the extreme southwestest corner of the U.S. of A. Spent a week in Deary some years ago, awesome country! I am a re-inventor of the wheel, with thousands of pounds of fancy equipment. Most of which is housed under tents and lean-tos. My point being, Blacksmithing can be started with a campfire, a rock, and any old hammer shaped thing. Choose your path according to your taste, and Iforgeiron can help from the lowest to the highest end... Cheers, Robert Taylor
