  1. I Bought some two copies of makita one bing bigg one for concrete work with hammer and its with cord in it and other is cordless drill like 30 dollars well both costed 100 euro 200 convertible marks , lets say 120 dollars. IT was cheap i bought Straus mark couple years a go it lasted for one year and chuck get messed up. Couldn't replaced it so i throwed it in garbage. For one year working with that tools was not that bad but i was a bit disappointed, to be honest i bought same tool new one 5 times cheaper then original (makita cordless) but it can do some work. I don't put too much faith in it.
  2. Well i think parts as rotors stators or brushes which are not mechanical and yo cant always check it and sure if you don't know to maintain tool like me its' kind of risky to buy used tool. But my uncle suggested me to try at some flea market, i know that this tool is being used and need some maybe new brushes and bearings, so maybe not now maybe for year or maybe for ten.
  3. Is power tool worth buying used at yard sales etc? Or one should buy allways new power tools
  4. What is difference between haggling and bargain ,,?
  5. Use some wet rugg attached to firepoker and dim fire a bit.

    Another tongs

Well this is third one, made from 3/4 round bar Boss were drilled in drill press, I find it more precise then having it drifted out I had some spare material on other half and I wanted to make it ball shaped, so it won't slip, I will see if I weld another ball to other part of reins . I will see for what I will make them to grab.
  7. So I won't burn drill bits? Which one you suggest. Wd40 grease i don't know.
  8. Bought myself drill press . Can be good for making knives. Used it to drill reins of tongs too. Lots of easier to drill holes then previous drills Any other tips what in blacksmithing can be used for, I know some woodwork task for it.
  9. I still think that tablesaw is more dangerous then hardy hole tools. I always hated and been scared of tablesaw when it come to woodworking, just i dont like it, i would rather be by hot forge then having my fingers close to spining blade, and pushing piece of wood in that direction.
  10. I tought you will only get like some scaring if you miss spot and hit it with knuckle. I never tought you could get your finger cut, but posibly it can break bone, it didnt crossed my mind maybe becasue i dont use often hardy tools.
  11. It can remove fingers too if you hit by accident?
  12. I tought it has to do with strenghts, like full steel stem will be more robust and sturdy. But i see no point with having it forged from one solid piece or having it welded from two solid pieces of material. I think it dont affect if its pipe or full steel, when all force is on shoulder.
  13. One question can hardy hole shafts be made out of square pipe? I mean shaft part so you weld something to it, like chisel etc? Why it does have to be full steel?
  14. How do you mean? You build forge with fire or you mean fireopot?
  15. Does anyone use water when forging with charcoal. I saw blacksmtih do that, he use wet rugg and dip some water around fire? I think it helps to make charcoal a bit heavier.
  16. Sometimes you should move anvil and stand , escpeciaz if you have small shop
  17. I tried to fix my new bought tongs and i ruined them a bit. V bit tongs they are usefull but not as they were. So my cooworker said and i remembered until this day, she said" Dont repair what is not broken".
  18. You will just temper and ruin it. I saw vidoe od essential craftsman on YouTube when sometimes you just can't repair anvil.
  19. I will once again try with lignite i have it in tons. I buy charcoal but if i could use lignite too it will be exelent.
  20. WEll it goes for all tools in shop. Same things i think i will make some cabinet drawer that will go under bellows. I was thinkin to make frame out of square metal tubes and than to make drawers out of wood , and maybe sides of cabinet sheet metal, it will go good under bellows i mean it will fit and you can just pull drawers out if you need some tools , dont need even to end under blellow like i do with my tool chest.
  21. YEah i agree weather is not best in autumn. IT's kinda depressing but less depresing then in Nordic countires or Britain with less rain and less shady grayish weather.
  22. I think Russians are allowed into Balkans, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Albania which are not members of European Union.
  23. Now I need to straighten reins jaws, grind it and then rivet it. Yeah I need to weld one part which cracked at boss. One shoull punch hole later when all forging is done Beore and after
