  2. Well i have one inch thick board so its kinda issue. Your is 2 inch thick. And about anvil does anvil need to be level i see yours is a litle bit lean on side, will anvil get damaged if hammered on uneven stand. Well this week iam second shift so i wont do any blacksmithing so iam safe for now, but next time 110 ibs 50 kg anvil will get stump like birch one. I noticed it is good to have wider stand like 1/4 than anvil , so you can put hardie tools hammers etc.
  3. Well about safety things i didnt tought about that raaly i didnt find it that it will tip toward me . I have those angle iron to hold it a bit. About option screwing together lumbers iam not able to do that. But we will have some stumps for couple of weeks and iam afraid i wont have enaugh lenght for anvil. Is it good to add two stumps and nail them together? Lets say i have good width but i dont have height nailing two stumps together to get height is good option?? No no anvil there is concrate under stump.
  4. Here i was thinking to add extension cord with switch. Forge plugged in cord and I want to switch of can do on cord
  5. Yes Ian I was thinking to use extension cord with switch, will that be good idea?
  6. Des any of you have to bend to turn off forge. My forge switch is kinda on akward position, you have to bend over fireplace to get it off. A
  7. YEah iam woried they will get chiped if hit on horn or heel. I find horn part good when you want to twist tongs, for example one to change side of piece just bring it near horn and you can on that circle side rotate tongs.
  8. Can anvil be mounted like this because I don't have any better stump for now. I mean it sticks a little bit to sides . I know it's not perfct stand but this is all I have got
  9. Hi guys how this need to be turned Should handles go to side (clicker breaker and ash dump) And can I weld on it (considering electric fan mounted) I need to make it taller and I need to weld shelves for tongs and hammers am I allowed to do that while I unplug electricity from forge? Will welder mess up fan? And do you prefer hearth of forge away from you or toward you
  10. I have lots of questions i will have to make another thread.
  11. WEll hammers are gratis so i wont gifted horse in teeth. Weight is 110 ibs 50 KG. Forge is electric squeir cage with air gate and ash dump.
  12. I bought today anvil and forge, and got gratis one tong hammer files. Didnt know that people like when they tools go to right hand, when they can pass tools to younger . I got suprised.
  13. This is austrian anvil. With stairs on them and church doors.
  14. I learned how to make circle on steel by drawing out reins. I think making tongs is one of best exercise you can do.
  15. I would make twist ater riveting. I think that way is better

    Buy those tongs?

@JHCC Look how they meet later at end in middle , i think those are lefthended Even if i do that i will have to do this again , i mean meet them at end of rens (where and hold it) tp be parallel. Oh thanks and i saw that reins dont go straight you have to bend them later on. Even left handed or right handed. They need to meet at same line if you get what i mean? I wil lhave to reforge this . So they can accept rod perpendicular to jaws. But it will mess V shape . And i had to grind a litle bit corners they were too sharp. Thats risk buying online, but i now know how they should look how thick boos how thick jaws reins etc. Easier to made one my own.

    Buy those tongs?

I don't understand what you mean heat up and hammer vertically And right hand tong mean hammer go in right hand and tongs in left hand. And I find one litle akeard. Maybe flat one And I will have to somehow fix this wolfjaws they are basically V bit tongs made this way But however it's easier for me to make tongs looking at these one

    Buy those tongs?

Allright i bought those tongs they are shiped. Besides wolf jaws having inefective grip from side ways itsgood. DIdnt noticed that you cant grab stock if you want from side way. They are kinda V tongs instead Wolf jaw.
  21. Yes. about tongs i bought some and i noticed that i made bigger reins than they make in factory.- Well i was offshoting better longer to stay away from heat than shorter but it can affect balance if reins are too long.
  22. Thanks john for that picture. I can see it welded and mounted in vise. I cant find video on net anymore but i saw one smith pounding on the edge of anvil and it by some miracle fold itself in circle (ring)
