  1. looks to be very functional, Nice camp knife. i like the way you took the things you liked and put them into the design and took out the stuff you don't. And made a fully functional knife. I like it, even your home made micarta. as long as you like it and it works for you that is all that really matters.:)
  2. I'm no where close to being called a blacksmith, well a blacksmith wannabe maybe:D. I'm 10 -20 miles from there.

    That is a really good looking knife, I like the handle iron bark- don't know if it was planed or not but the knot on it looks superb!

  12. I went with the journeyman, and still wishing i saved up for the competitor. But it works for me, just stating out and all.
  13. Hey Tom, you say your from Woodlawn Tennessee, We were deployed with a unit from Tennessee there were the 181 if i remember right and one from Georgia, Don't remember what unit. Talked with a few from England and A few from Australia.
  14. Utah National Guard, 89-02, Activated in 02-03(because of 9 11 State side mission) 03-07, Activated in May 07 OIF till May 08. waiting patiently for Nov 09(will have my 20!?!). then hopefully retire. About 9 days after i got home joined IFI. 13 B20 Artillery.

  23. I agree with the above, just seal the ends with whatever as long as its water proof. That allows the tree or stump to dry through the face which is slower and reduces checking (or cracks). I was always told a good rule of thumb was 1" a year, but that was slabs... dont recall anything about stumps would imagine the theory being the same.
