  1. I have one just like that one, Its a great blower! The only way to get parts for it is to buy another one and steel the parts off of it or make your own.
  2. Great job!! Especially for your first.
  3. That's really an outstanding railing! I really like the way you changed the alignment of the pickets from back to front of the flat bar! Great job!

  7. I appreciate all of the info! It's taken a few years for me to get my head on straight enough to go back to school. Makoz, I have some drafting experience, my grandpa used to sit me down as a child and have me draft up different shapes that he found laying around the shop. I would jump at the chance to study in Europe, but school comes first. VoTech here offers some cad courses which I've planned on taking this coming summer. Thank you to all that have responded to my thread, I have learned a lot!
  8. I appreciate all your info! Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was just wanting to hear about other peoples experiences. I'm always a sucker for new, unheard, or just interesting story about other peoples live. ThomasPowers, I do see the importance of learning about doing things different ways. Just because you know how to do something, doesn't mean you know all the different ways to get it done, which is pretty important considering you don't always approach a task the way. Great stuff and thanks.
  9. I'm part of the saltfork craftsmen. I belong to couple of different groups. I was just interested in hearing about other people experiences about what made them better at what they do. I have recognized that when a certain group of folk hang around each other a lot, that you tend to hear the same ideas and was just looking for ideas and stories outside my region
  10. I'm back in college trying to get a degree in art sculpture with the emphasis on metal. I was wondering what kind education, experiences, and classes that y'all have had that you believe have made yourself better at what you do, whether hobbyist or professionally.
  11. I have been wanting to do some sculpting using carbon arc. I have racked up several hundreds of hours using this process at work. I was wondering if anyone has tried this process in doing sculpture and if anyone has some suggestions on techniques. I have been really putting this experiment off just because of the expence of materials. I was thinking of using the carbon arc in the same sense as a stone carver uses a hammer and chisel. I believe it would give some very interesting texture from the puddling of metal. If anyone has any information or experience please let me know as I think this would be a great way to make some neat art!
  12. I really do like that lantern! What are the dimensions on it and do you have web site?
  13. That is just awesome! How deep of a hole did you have to dig to support the piece?
  14. That is really great work! I have always wanted to get into doin that kind of, but using carbon arc to sculpt the metal.

  19. I attach mine to the end of the power cord, so when ever I have to change a bit, it makes me unplug it. Nice and safe! :D
  20. anyone tell me what kind of anvil this is? I'm thinking its an hay-budden, but not sure. It belonged to my great-grandfather. he used it from 1915 to 1946. Any ideas where to go find the info or opinions would be appreciated! There are a few photos in the gallery.
