A Champion 400-1/4 Power and Hand blower
Understood. However, the ad says “are required to run only 40 revolutions per minute”

A Champion 400-1/4 Power and Hand blower
I’d definitely remove the handle if using the pulleys. I thought it interesting that the pulleys were designed to run at 40 rpm. So, that would imply that the 400 should run around 40 rpm? That would be one complete turn of the handle every 1.5 seconds or so

A Champion 400-1/4 Power and Hand blower
Just got this great Champion Blower. According to the 1912 Champion Catalog, it is the 400-1/4.model. Powered by hand or lineshaft. Handle is bent, but it works fine with both handle and pulleys. Here’s some pictures and the catalog page. Definitely going to clean this up and see how it works.

New post vise, from Tredegar Ironworks, curious about approximate age
Just got this 6 - inch vise that originally came from the Tredegar Ironworks in Richmond, Virginia. The fellow I bought it from said his great grandfather had worked as a Blacksmith and a puddler in the foundry there and when the equipment was auctioned off in the 1950s, his father bought some of the blacksmith equipment including this vise and some tongs I also bought from him. I cannot find any marks on the vise yet, but haven’t cleaned it up and removed the paint to look closely either. Based on what I have read here and what i’ve Seen in the past, I am thinking it is pre-1900, maybe even around the civil war based upon the mount and hexagonal shapes on the vise legs. Screw is in great shape. Jaws are 6-inches. If you need more pics to help me figure about how old, let me know what you need. I realize this all best guess, but I appreciate any and all ideas, suggestions, and help.

A cool souvenir
Yes, sir. Love that workshop. Also the National Rail Museum in York. Oh, and I love the beam engines at the Water and Steam Museum at Kew Bridge.

A cool souvenir
Some of the earliest rail - from Trevithicks Pennydaren Locomotive hauling slate in Wales in 1803 was like angle iron - the wheels were smooth and the rail had the flange! There is a model of the locomotive in the Science Museum in London, and they have a full scale replica in Cardiff at the National Museum of Wales. Really neat looking locomotive.

What did you do in the shop today?
Das, you could put something in one or two of the hands and leave the others grasping. Heck, it could even become a card holder with to of the arms and hands holding the bottom and the other two holding the sides.....

Coal cracker ideas
I used a piece of steel reinforcing screen to make my sifter. It’s stiff enough to break up those pieces of coal that dont go through.

Do you have anything other than a Facebook page? I don’t use any social media at all and I would like to see what you have and the pricing. Thanks.

First anvil - Peter wright
Look like the weights marks are 1-1-24 which would be 112 + 28 + 24 or 164 pounds. Does look like a nice anvil. How’s the rebound?

Perpetual tinkerer from Virginia
Both the Tidewater Blacksmith Guild and the Central Virginia Blacksmith Guild are ABANA and still active - I’d use our friend, Google, to find their websites and send them an email. I wouldn’t worry about the dated webpages - neither one is real good at updating the webpage.
