Beardedblacksmith
Does anyone have tips on un-seizing a bullet wilton vice?
pnut
Maybe soak it in ATF or WD-40 for a while. Beyond that maybe some judicious heating but that could damage it if you're not careful. Pnut
Stash
An ATF and acetone mix is a very effective home made penetrant. As pnut said, soak it for a while, work at it a bit, lather rinse and repeat until it works free. Patience is the operative word here. Don't try to force things, and use the torch with caution. Rmartin2
I soaked one of mine in PB Blaster for a week. Then drove a wedge in the jaws and they came right apart. I guess it depends on the level of seize.
JHCC
PB Blaster and some judicious sledgehammering got my Columbian apart.

Nobody Special
If you feel bold enough, you can also put it in a tote with the acetone/ATF and drive around with it in the bed of your truck. The vibration often helps with stuck parts.
ThomasPowers
Don't be in a hurry! I'd try soaking it in Penetrating oil and gentle tapping for at least a month before escalating.
G-son
A bit of heat often helps. And I'm guessing a lot of people in this group has access to heat. Just don't over do it, hardened steel parts still needs to be hardened.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Depends on how it was seized. Today I could put it outside and it would get to an even 160F plus degrees that would loosen old grease. If it was rust; electrolysis, penetrating oil, kerosene, diesel Does it have a rear cap that can be removed and access the back of the screw? ThomasPowers
PATIENCE! Soak with penetrating oil every day for several months and tap on it before going to more risky methods!
Rmartin2
PB Blaster needs to come out with an IV drip for rusty things. Set it and forget it.
ThomasPowers
I have a lot of rusted adjustable wrenches now. I was thinking of buying a gallon of WD 40 and a dump it and them in an ammo can and set it where it will be in the sun part of the day and let it cycle. Memo to self only open can when it is cold to the touch!
Rmartin2
I would need a lot of WD40 or PB blaster to cover my Wilton C2 vise. Right now I just spray it down every 2 days. I got it pushed in enough that the key on th shaft was resessed in the body so it left me a tiny resivior to fill up.
JHCC
Scrolling through the Unread Content page, this thread's "Vice seized" title caught my eye, and I thought, "The cops are seizing vises now?" I guess that's why they have a Vise Squad.

ThomasPowers
Is Vice/Vise seizure covered by the USA's Constitution's 4th amendment? Unreasonable search and seizure...
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Only if there is no rust involved.

Maybe that's why so many old vises are marked "warranted".

ATF and acetone are the least expensive and beats all the rest hands down. Somewhere I have the test results on this.
