October 13, 20169 yr So i carve a boat load of pumpkins every year to add to my front yard for halloween. Last year i though it would be fun to do a pumpkin pattern for my blacksmithing. So i made my own pattern using cad and some reference material i found online. Just figured id share it since that time of year is coming up. Carve out the black and what your left with is in white. Hope some of you at least get a kick out of it. Skeletal Smith Pumpkin.pdf
October 13, 20169 yr Mr. Quade, Your Halloween design is magnificent. Does your post permit the I. f. I. group to copy the design royalty free. I am assuming that this is so. But I just wanted to be sure. Regards, SLAG.

October 13, 20169 yr Dustin, The compliment was well earned. Also, your generosity is appreciated. Ontario is an enormous Province. It takes two long days of hard driving to go from Kingston, on the eastern border,. west to the Manitoba border. (near Winnipeg). I am curious, Where are you located? I will guess the Hamilton- Dundas area. Regards, SLAG.
October 13, 20169 yr Very cool Dustin I may have to buy a pumpkin. We live far enough into the woods we don't get trick or treaters but there's a party at church. Thanks, consider it adopted. Frosty The Lucky.

October 13, 20169 yr Drat!: Wrong again. It's a lovely area. I lived in Hamilton for a while a long time ago. doing research at m.u.m.c. Regards, SLAG.
November 1, 20169 yr Nice carving Dustin. JHCC, how about HF anvil carving? Should be able to chisel into them pretty easily.
November 1, 20169 yr I love the carving! I was considering doing a blacksmith themed jack but ended up doing a star wars one.
November 1, 20169 yr Oh man! I wish I would have seen this before Halloween! I definitely would have made NickOHH go buy some pumpkins so I could carve a few....but alas it is November now

Yea i have a folder just for pumpkin patterns. I go a bit overboard with the carving. This year our collection grew to 23 pumpkins but next year will be 38. No joke though that image right there was what i had thought to try to come up with then i was first thinking of making a smith pumpkin but i couldnt find any good reference images. Saving that for next year.

September 26, 2025Sep 26 I'm a little late to the game but wanted to say this is a great pattern. I may have to try this pattern myself.
September 26, 2025Sep 26 BOY, resurrecting old Halloween project posts aught to be an Iforge tradition! Not only does this bring back memories of a really creative piece of art it brings to mind friends I haven't heard from in years. I see some still visit but haven't posted in way too long. <sigh> Thanks RGroshans, you done good. How about it guys, what are you doing to Halloween? Frosty The Lucky.
September 26, 2025Sep 26 I usually make a handful of these little guys. 1" pipe necked down, cut off, drill and cut the openings. Finish with a brass brush. I do not sell them but keep a couple in my pocket throughout Oct. to give to people. Being hollow they look cool with a small LED inside. Fun quick little project that people really like.
September 26, 2025Sep 26 I love the expression, the voices keep suggesting captions like, "When I went to sleep I was a PUMPKIN!!" The other think the voices are saying is, "If he carries these around all the time let's call him Billy Punkin Pockets!" !! It's a great easy gift project, Billy consider it adopted. Frosty The Lucky.
September 27, 2025Sep 27 I really like that pumpkin pattern and think it would make a great wood cutout too. And Billy, I think I'll try to make a few of those pocket pumpkins too. I can learn to neck down pipes. They look great!
