annealing horseing rasps
Hello Thomp82, welcome aboard! This is a worldwide forum, answers often depend upon where in the world you are located (but probably not in this case). Please edit your profile header and add your general location so the rest of us have an idea where in the world you are. Also if you haven't already see the "read this first" pinned topic for clues on getting the most from this forum. To answer your question.... yes if it's dry it will insulate if you have nothing else but it's probably not the best thing to use.

How do you do this?
Welcome aboard Gauche_Gage. I look forward to seeing the results of your attempt and the instructions on how to repeat it. If you haven't already, please read the pinned "read this first" for helpful hints on using this site. Also, this is a world wide forum. It helps to know where in the world you are located. What did you do in the shop today?
I like the twists you put in. It doesn't hurt to experiment to see if there's something you like better, but these look great.

INS-TUFF dilute or no?
As I remember Frosty's advice... get it damp enough that the rigidizer doesn't flash dry on surface of the insulation and can allow capillary action to pull it deeper into the insulation. But I'm being a parrot here rather than having actual knowledge...

INS-TUFF dilute or no?
This is one of the many topics where I miss Frosty. He would have given the best answer immediately. If I were doing it, I'd wet the insulation with water, then spray on your rigidizer full strength and only thin it enough so it doesn't clog your sprayer.

Abused horn
That was a great gift. Welcome aboard!

That's a great helmet John. I went to Sugar Grove for the ivba monthly hammer in. I made a ram's head. While I was there, another member gifted me a 3' piece of 1" square wrought iron. He said it's a highly refined piece with very small grain. I'm not sure what to make with it, but don't want to waste it on something trivial. Any suggestions?

Happy Birthday Asa! I'm sure you'll make many wonderful things with those gifts.

Another one of those 'can anyone identify this anvil' topics..............
A quick google search for Trenton Anvil Serial Numbers yielded this page: https://www.watersironworks.com/trenton-anvils/ There are other sources, but this one looks pretty good.

Nice work Chad. I really like the counter twist one.

1/4 (ish) scale post vise build (pic heavy)
Jono, that is amazing! You built a great tool. Could you flip the screw box around instead of grinding and reriveting? Or are the holes in each arm custom fit to the screw box parts?

I agree with John. Contact the person who originally posted that picture. We can't give permission for you to use other people's work, only they can. If you go back to the post where you found the picture, hover over the person's name and a box will pop up. One of the choices is "Message", click that and it will send directly to the member who posted it. If they are still active they will probably answer you soon.

What did you do in the shop today?
I visited the IVBA monthly hammer in at Sugar Grove Park in Funks Grove, IL for the first time yesterday. It was great! I made a spoon. I used a coal forge for the first time and managed to burn through the handle of my first attempt at a spoon, forge welded it back on (also a first) only to have the spoon break off the handle while I was refining the weld. This spoon was my second attempt. The spoons were practice for an event at the Clayville hammer in next month. The local smiths are making stew and if you can make your own spoon onsite you get a free bowl of it. Else it's $2.... who wouldn't make a spoon for free stew? https://clayville.org/events#5aae5db8-9347-40af-b906-cc58bc713759

A simple side draft flue
Thanks for letting us know how this worked for you. It looks like a great hood. Are you using scrap lumber for fuel?

Project Ideas. What can I make with bed frame angle iron?
I made a new handle using a flap disc on my angle grinder. It worked wonerfully!
