welder19
It wouldn't be worth $15,000 if it was made out of gold. welder19

Dave Budd
until I read the description I thought that he had put the zeros in the wrong box and was actually aiming for $50. Good luck to him, some how I think it may remain 'unsold' :D
CBrann
I couldn't move one for US$15, but maybe thats because I didn't have a nice plaque. If I could do that, once a month, I would be a happy ********. God bless him if he can get it!!!!
John NC
I can't remember if he told me he made the spike from the knife or the knife from the spike but either way you get both. This guy's a Supergenius!
dablacksmith
it reminds me of the shadowboxes they you see with the replica(non fireing)colt pistols ... ive seen those sell for 500-700 as a "nostalga" thing usually has a faked newspaper headline or sumthin like that with it...he might have a chance selling that in somplace like jackson hole if it was 500.00 and he had a name attached ... or maybee sumthing like "original rr spike from old b&o rr with knife" its a good ad tho... funny! andgott
I love this line in the listing-Added After Auction Started: I have had several people write and ask if I made a mistake on the price. I checked my auction again and sure enough I did make a mistake. I meant to list this item for $ 15,000.00 + free shipping but forgot to enter the 1 so since it was my mistake I will go ahead and allow this auction to run its course and maybe this item will be overlooked and I will not have to sell it. I might just have to bid on this one- I MUST be missing something here!
triw
But the defining question remains Will he sell it? If he does Barnam was right there is a sucker born every minute...... William
ThomasPowers
I'd more likely guess it was just "free" advertising using something he knows will not sell!
MattBower
Can't help wondering if this is a deliberate joke or some sort, or if he has some other sort of ulterior motive (as Thomas suggested). Pretty hard to take this seriously. No one could be that dumb. (And that's not something you'll find me saying very often.)

unkle spike
"On Jun-12-09 at 08:28:12 PDT, seller added the following information: To reply to yesterdays 2 offers: Sorry I cannot sell this item for $ 1,500.00 but thanks for the offers............." This was added recently.....

Frosty
Pure unadulterated BS, and bad BS at that. I'm surprised it isn't stuck in a stone. Not saying it won't work people will buy anything. Politics on any level being a definitive example. Frosty
easilyconfused
or at least the idea to pretend he's had offers. Notice how it was his post, not an answer to a question.
MattBower
Yeah, that's obviously self-generated marketing hype. His mom offered him $1,500, maybe, but only for purposes of advertising. lol
azmike
guess maybe he's lucky that he posted the incorrect price---doesn't it cost a certain percent to offer for sale on e-bay? if he has to pay to post and gets no sale then i guess he is the sucker in this case (but i'm still not ruling out someone bidding on it). Quenchcrack
I overheard a spike knife maker making a pitch at the Canton Flea Market in Canton, TX. At first I was going to step in and correct his misrepresentations but thought better of it. The customers needed to learn about snake oil and this was just the guy to teach them.
