  1. "Anvils in America", page 303, Serial Number 50,001-60,000 = Date --1900 (+/-) 2 years.
  2. If the horn was a critter’s face and the heel was the back of its head and described as a biologist or MD would, then the serial number was on the Right Front foot.
  3. This anvil sold ($2,100) in central PA -- 486lbs, no visible markings except a serial (?) number on the RF foot.
  4. Reminder -- Hydrogen gas is released. Poor ventilation + unclipping a "sparking" electrode = BOOM, which could be deafening. Disconnect the charger first.
  5. Question -- in the OP's pics, there is a hardy tool near the horn, does it have a specific name? and function? I can guess a function. Thank you.

  7. On some post vises, I've seen 2 opposing wedges (rather than a single wedge) to tighten the vise and top mounting bracket.
  8. I clamped the empty bottle under the weight of a 15 ton crawler loader bucket and used a 4 ft cheater on the wrench and it came right out. .
