  1. You stay busy....nice little blades.
  2. Another beauty!!.....and please stop calling them UGLY!!!
  3. Reminds me of those visual perception tests, where the still image looks as if it is moving.Fantastic!!!!!
  4. Very cool beammeupscotty!! I bought a very small stake plate a few years back, but as you mentioned the angles seem to vary considerably among bought stakes.I have taken to shimming mine when needed, but it is never as stable as what you have. If I had thought of your plate method(heating tubing to fit) I would likely have tried it....maybe still will. Not sure what types of stakes you need, but often I make my own.Since generally I use mine for sheet metal, mild steel is sufficient. One of my better stakes though I made from a section of pinch bar and just welded to square stock. Here is a photo: Welcome to the forum.
  5. Looking good!! Be sure to post your finished pics.
  6. The I-beam will work, but making it is time you could be forging. It will ring like crazy too.I would use the weight and keep looking for an old anvil.Just my .02 cents.
  7. "I love this knife - by far the most difficult to forge blade to date." It looks well worth how difficult it was to forge.I love it too!!
  8. Nice knife......and nice stitches too!
  9. Thanks Everything Mac!.......I have already referenced this site several times.Cheers
  10. Another beautiful piece Zanshin!! Thank you for the photos.
  11. Looks good and props for tenacity man!!
  12. toolish,I have seen keychain bottle openers like you descibe.I did this one as a quickie graduation gift....and the working end is what I dislike about that one.It looks machined rather than forged.....well,because it is. :D dcraven,I think all of yours look much nicer than mine....much more fluid and better designs. For the grooves I just used a cutoff wheel in an angle grinder. Some type of fuller would probably be much faster, but I don't have one. Thanks for the comments and photos. Thanks Frosty,....yep they work.I have been experimenting with the twists and have knocked some divots into the corners.....but they stretch considerably when twisted.I am practicing for a larger project. :)
  13. Here are a couple of bottle openers I made recently.I'm not particularly fond of either of them, but it is practice.
  14. Looks good!! When you say "flip" blade, do you mean a folder type? There is another section under the Bladesmithing forum especially for folding knives.
  15. Cool!! I hope after the handle is applied we get to see it.
  16. Here are some links too: http://www.onlinemetals.com/ http://www.usaknifemaker.com/?gclid=CN2xh_Sfi7cCFQVV4AodNFIAcQ http://www.knifemaking.com/
  17. It may be worth checking the hardware stores in the plumbing sedtion.I don't know exactly what you have in mind, but I have seen guys use some of that stuff.
  18. Beautiful knife Zanshin! I love the way the blade's surface mimics the tusk's surface and yet contrasts it simultaneously.
  19. Really cool!!.....but no twist? :)
