    so proud of me

with rebar it could go well or it could go terrible. it's a mixed bag. Read up on some of the many posts on here about it.
  2. Got me wanting to make another sign to add to my toolbox at work keep it up

The riveting looks like my first pair Now Get some bigger stock and make more now that it's fresh in your mind. They will get better.
  4. Nice work. That sort of story happened to me several times for a stainless steel omega pendant I made and put up on An art hosting site. I made a few but it just wasn't cost effective for me so I stopped. Stock removal on stainless steel isn't fun. Congrats on the return.
  5. Wow. I haven't seen them welded like that. Nice work.
  6. Sigh.... It's there, convenient, cheap and they work....
  7. What kind of blower? HF has variable speed switch for routers that I use on my blower. You can start it slow and build up to a higher air blast. They also have both a "dead man" foot switch ( where it's only on when your pressing down on it) and an on off foot switch. I bought and have tried all 3 and just stick with the variable speed switch.
  8. I can't help much on exacts other then each one was a shape they needed for whatever they were making great score tho!
  9. Love the blade profile Theo. The handle looks well done and also a nice profile as well. Would be cool if you branded or wood burned some chess pieces on the squares
  10. we only want you to succeed. not just putting down what you've made. Glad you are finding the Info here useful. It is. it's helped me so much. there are many ways to make a functional forge. we are only trying to make your experience better with something more functional. Yup, Leaf spring, coil spring and a thousand other car parts are great free material.
  11. so much OOZAGE. lol. still love that anvil stand. just be sure to keep us up to date on how it works out. I have some I beam now. just really dont want to have to cut it.....
  12. There are some good posts here on Mokume gane. I've read some and am not even trying it after 3 years of forging . not to say anyone shouldnt follow their heart, just not what I'm trying to do atm.
  13. I may have to make one of those At the moment I have 4 heavier duty wagon wheels that want to be seat benches. JME, excellent score. helping others is not always helping yourself, if nothing else you are a better person for it. but sometimes the stars line up.
  14. Very nice looking hunting knife. Well done.
  15. Dcav, Welcome aboard. What do you do in Auto repair? I do autobody/ collision repair. Working in Auto repair you could practically make a forge from free scrap car parts and being able to weld you are almost limitless in ability to make one. A couple thoughts, a larger diameter tuyere would probably be better, and a simple thicker grate over it, and raise up your inlet pipe for room at the bottom for an ash collection and dump. (Ash likes to accumulate in the bottom of the air inlet eventually blocking the air supply.) a weighted flap at the bottom makes for easy ash dumping. (I fiddled with a screw on cap way longer than I should have.) Also the refractory cement is not needed at all with this style design so it's just wasted money. Another help is to build it into a sheetmetal table to hold extra fuel, workpiece, tongs, whatever. I like brake rotors that use the internal E-brake ( around 8"diameter by roughly 2-3" deep) because it's easy to cut a hole in the table for the rotor to sit in without mounting it permanently so you can change it out or clean it once in a while. There is a ton of info on here so sit back and start reading and researching.
  16. Like I was told by ... Someone, it's easier to come down on price then it is to go up.
  17. Sounds great CT. Congrats. Like Thomas said, later you may not source the free material. And some materials you may never find the same again.
  18. Nice spike heart hook. One tip/idea is to countersink the holes for the screws unless you plan to use something else like a bolt to fasten it. Typically I find people like the countersunk screw holes. Keep up the good work.
  19. Good looking scorpion CT. Ah yeah... Haha. Pricing. That was a problem I had/have. What is your time worth? How much time do you have into it? How much in materials, consumables, utility's? Are there similar? What are they selling for? I've gotten some good pointers from some great people and I'm still not good at dealing with that aspect.
  20. Cool pendant CT. I might have to borrow that idea lol. The more you weld the better you will get. That edge welding above isn't bad. personally I'm guilty of owning a TIG welder and not working with it enough to get good with it. That will probably change when I get my shop organized and set up a good welding station. I'm just so used to my MIG welder.
  21. Some pictures of your forge and fire pot would probably help. When posting a question like this you should try to be as descriptive as possible. You know what you are working with but we don't.
