  1. Welcome aboard B-Hoss. One things about the back problems, if you haven't already, read up on some of the posture, or hammer holding techniques discussed in a bunch of threads here. A little searching ought to find them. It might help you at least a bit. My oldest brother loves bass fishing and has done some more local tournaments. I rarely have time to go fishing and when I do it's for trout or catfish or whatever will bite the bait.
  2. CT I agree, just that shipping would be a killer. I'll just keep scrounging what i can little by little. Sometimes I wonder if the WWII scrap metal drives gobbled up most of the good Old scrap here in the U.S. Aus, you know we love scrap pictures how could they Ever be off topic?
  3. I'll agree with Tubalcain on his point. Better quality in an old vise and usually the same if not less cost as new.
  4. I think you really have something there with the arrow striker idea Frosty. Good thinking.
  5. Jim, that would make it great for different sizes too. Larger or smaller pipe. Perfect.
  6. Haha nice one Aus. Jim, that's an excellent idea I hadn't thought of. Thank you.
  7. That's some nice work! Love the little dragonfly.
  8. Vaughn the larks head knot is a good idea. Well Tubalcain, she ended up preferring it hanging straight.
  9. Thanks for the tip Jeremy. Good point. Good point Glenn. The handles are alligned but not as decernable as maybe they should be.
  10. I like the Idea Marc. Thanks. They do work. just fishing for ideas.....
  11. A friend is doing some pallet scrap woodwork and asked about wood branding irons in a heart and star. Here is what I came up with. Any better ideas? These seem to work but I have too much time into them, as far as making them.the heart was forged from half inch square, and the star was 3/16x1" stock. then both were ground and sanded flat on the branding side. It would be less next time now that I have a clue on how. I guess I'm just sharing and fishing for a better idea.

    Wood Box

I don't "see" any. At a guess it would be on the downward leaf mounts on the center shelf. But it dosnt matter. Nice job, it looks great.
  13. Aus, that sounds like a large village. Looks like they covered about everything. Wow.
  14. All I could think was that I wanted to see a before rebound test. Over all the silliness, I don't think they did a thing to it. Other then ALL the dangerous stuff.
  15. Merry Christmas to the IFI family. And what Ian said.
  16. Is the transmission good? lol I need one.... Anyway what Biggun said. Then you get into the scrap art things to save......
  17. I understand. It's an idea to work towards. Very rarely do we start out or even find the tools we need to make things. "Making the tools to make the tools we need to make...." Your spear looks good to me. I haven't made one and if you were able to repurpose a wasted bit of something else into that then I'm all about it. Anyone's biggest downfall is saying " I can't." We here are all about how it Can be done. Just because you don't have the tools now dosnt mean you won't get or make them later. keep on forging, learning, and building skills. Don't get discouraged about something. Keep doing what you Can and working to improve on what you Could.
  18. I just watched a video last night where the guy made most all of the spear head from a long bar of stock so he didn't need tongs until once he was almost done. He didn't weld the socket. Just saying. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B9jypAxXdkY Tho he uses a power hammer you could hammer it by hand and the tools he uses can be made.
  19. ID, That'd be nice to have around once you get it fixed up.
  20. Pretty sure it would be ok on this one but I think it would be better on one that I upset in the middle to give more stock for that area. I may try something like that on the next one.
  21. No doubt it would dampen it a bit at least. I did loop the ends of a leather strip on to each side to hold it after I was done. Still rang pretty well. I didn't really compare the sound from one tie off point to two. And I'd bet a central connection would be the best for the sound.
  22. I think that's what I'm Leaning towards but I think ultimately I will let my mother choose on this one. I'll bet she will like it hanging crooked too.
