  1. CT, I cant say it translated like that to me but it looks great haha. from root yes, but where they pass over and through the horizontal bars then cross through and behind the vertical is great. visually pleasing to me whatever the intended meaning. well done!
  2. funny enough the leaf heart hooks from 8 or 10" nails take me longer then the horse shoe horse head hearts. yeah the horseshoe hearts take a bit to recognize. here is a pic in progress. if you really want I will take a pic of each process.
  3. Haha. I only wish my scrap pile was bigger and more extensive. don't worry it will grow! . Thanks CT.
  4. Nice work LittleBlacksmith. As always I am impressed.keep it up!
  5. I'm an Auto Body collision repair tech. I forge and do scrap sculpture by night. I'm working at doing my hobby full time but that will take some time.
  6. Thanks Robert. My family needs the prayers. let me know a good time. I'd love to talk.I'm feeling a bit lost.
  7. Update, it's too much to handle almost. My brother is in a downward spiral. Rest of the family is in denial but I can't bury my brother. Just can't so I'm looking at every option and doing what I can. I'm wearing out. I really am. I am mad at myself for trying to tell myself let the chips fall where they may. I'm wearing thin. Thank you all for the prayers so far.
  8. Great work LittleBlacksmith. They are nice. And sometimes we all have to go to plan C or D or Z lol. I like parts on yours that I don't like much on my own. Keep at it. You have the advantage of starting young and I look forward to seeing where you go from there. I'm already impressed. Well done and keep it up.
  9. You will just have to work on that. Keep on forging. I think I'll have it down by the hundredth one haha.
  10. Nice work Dustin. Sounds like a great tradition to start.
  11. For fun add rum. Haha. Well, I amuse myself at least. Think I'll straighten some coil spring and work on some punches tonight.
  12. ? I know every time I miss hit, usually ends in cuss words and happens less and less the more I work.. now inviting people over and looking at my hammers after is another thing. They never hurt my anvil tho....
  13. Thomas, so far none will let me in. Otherwise I'd be poor. But the last one sold so I made another
  14. TechnicusJoe has some videos on YouTube about cleaning up blowers and some problems he has sorted out with them.
  15. That's a nice piece CT. The painted flower piece is an excellent contrast. I like how you wrapped the wire pieces too.
  16. Hi Deathcat, sure, check out Charles Stevens " box of dirt" side blast forge. http://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/44842-just-a-box-of-dirt-or-a-simple-side-blast-forge/#comment-463468
  17. I hope it works out for you. It looks like a cool hawk. You'll make more . Couldn't hurt to practice punching and drifting a bit so the next ones turn out better, thicker, and stronger.
  18. I've seen and heard of many people using hardy tools in the post vise.
  19. Is that stress cracking around the eye? If so I'd be a little concerned about breakage in use. I like the idea. not bad for a first punched hole. The more you punch the more you get to know how the metal reacts and moves. You might have had the metal a little too cool while drifting.
  20. ok, I found a bucket with some of my early attempts. may or may not be firsts but they are failures.( learning experiences.) But, we get better after. included is one of my first RRspike bottle openers, some knife fork and spoon sets, my first pair of tongs, and other failures." learning experiences". we build off that and get better. I'm still far from ok but I am always working on it and not afraid to show where I came from when I can.
  21. All well done Gergely! wow. Thanks for sharing. they will be in the inspiration folder haha.
  22. looking forward to it LB. heres tonights fun for me. my horses may be getting worse haha. I really need to make my new punches.
  23. Yup, great idea LB. For some reason I really like the top ones texture look.
  24. Thanks Joe, keep at it. Thanks Dick, please do try it I would love to see some others takes on it. I talked with a neighbor down the road that boards horses, I'm still waiting to hear back. He did trade me some old tongs for a couple plastic 55gal. Barrels I had sitting around. BigGun, that was a good score. A thousand shoes? Sounds like a big project. Hope you share once it's done.
