  2. Thanks for the reply! I like the color, It's seems nice and rich. I look forward to trying it myself! I also liked your branding iron. I may make my dad one with his old brand from NM, back when he was a child and had lots of horses. Thanks, Again. Dennis
  3. I have not had the pleasure of communicating with Todd, but now that I read his profile, please give him a warm hello from me, as a fellow disabled vet. I am 100% myself, and always changing meds, so I know what a discouragement that can be. Tell him to keep on pounding!! :D Sounds like he has a wonderful and caring friend in you as well, and that makes all the difference! Warmest Regards, Dennis
  4. I worked for Oklahoma DPS after getting out of the Army, and one of the first things I worked was the Murrah bombing, then the tornado's in May 3, 1999, and the ones in 2003. Each time you look and wonder how can we recover, but the human spirit surprise's every time. Sure there are some parasites that try to take advantage and try to go through what's left of peoples houses and belongings, but the local LE and OHP along with the Nat. Guard are doing a fine job keeping security. Anyway, I will again be sure to pass on all the prayers from all here! Charles, if you ever get up this direction, look me up and we can get a cup of coffee!
  5. Very nice! Nice pairing with the sheath!
  6. Hello, friends at IFI. I know I kind of joined under the radar, but my name is Dennis, and I live here in Moore, OK. As the tornado was forming Monday, we had friends that live down the street, and they did not have a shelter, we had just had one installed in January, and you never know the path it's going to take. Our friends just had a 2 month old baby, and a 16 year old girl, so we told them to get over to our house. they drove through the hail and rain, and no sooner than they arrived, we got into the cellar, and we could hear it passing. After, we climbed out and try to get a feeling were it passed, We had lost power, but sounded like it passed south of us. Sure enough, as us men folk fought to get to there house, it was no longer a house. I know you all have seen pictures, but it's hard to judge until you see it in person, and it's somebody you know. Here is what their house looks like now: Although they lost everything but literally the cloths on their back, they are alive. I could not imagine sitting at a school waiting to see your child, and they have to break the news to you. Anyway, we all know the human spirit is one that we all run to help people in need, whether here or Texas, Joplin, New Jersey, or around the world, we help each other. I will certainly pass on the prayers from all the good folks here at IFI, and no doubt, healing and rebuilding is already happening. Thanks for listening to my long winded story. Regards to all.
  7. Thanks for sharing, Frosty! Amazing! But now how can I tell my wife I need the latest tool I just seen, can't work with out it?.......
  8. thanks for the reply, Neg! I'll have to try it. Nice work! : )
  9. Love the work! And since I use a cane, if you don't mind, what is your process for that? I take it you cup the end, like the "rasp snakes" to receive the wood portion, then pin the wood in place? Thanks! Dennis
  10. oh, they also have mig tips as well as the Ward T's and nipples...
  11. Hello, Jonathan. On your question about the SS 3/4" flair, you can get them here: ($16.00) http://www.hightemptools.com/burners.html They have all kinds of supplies. You can also get 1/4 pint of ITC-1000 for about $20.00, Satanite for about $14.00 for 5 lbs., which should be enough to do your small forge, as it was enough to do my Freon type. You can always click on the "Refractory and knifemaking supplies" at the top of the page, then look at the bottom of the next page for the supplies they have. Also, Laguna Clay Co. / Axner Pottery Supply has a lot of products, I got some Superwool there for about $3.00 a sq foot about two-three years ago.: http://www.axner.com/ Looks like your on the right track, keep at it! . Regards, Dennis
  12. I grew up in New Mexico, and my family all worked in the copper mines, so I also love copper. Nice piece. How large is it? I agree with Kent, what is your process? Thanks for posting!
  13. Thanks for the tutorial! Similar to a knife blade etch...
  14. All, thanks for all the pic's and info. I have several spikes, and never made an opener, and now I'm inspired to give it a go. Regards!
  15. Neet! So with the stabilizer, you don't need a flair at the end?
  16. Very nice! Love the copper!
  17. Agreed with working stainless. I want to work on blending steel and copper more together, when time permits.....
  18. Very nice, Paul! What did you use for the finish?
  19. Well you arr doing it right! Gary Huston did a video on youtube with copper, and he was nice enough to put a pattern for the cut outs, so I'm going to try this as well, although I do not have a plasma cutter, I'll use the old tin snip method.
  20. That is improvising with what you have on hand! Which flea market did you visit? I am originally from Silver City, settled here in Oklahoma where my wife's family is. We use to go to the one in Deming, but it's been a long time!
  21. Welcome! I have a PW as well, and above the weight numbers (the three numbers you posted above), that is where it should be marked with something like : first line: Peter ; second line: England; third: Patent , then Solid Wrought in a circle pattern. Yours may vary if older... Nice cut off hardy as well!
  22. Blackblood, I am going to make one as well, thanks for sharing! Lucky, man that is a good story! I always lived in the country, so I know how dire a situation can become. Dogs can do amazing things! Is that how you aquired the nick name "Lucky"?
  23. Loyd, where did you get the pattern for the pedals, or did you design your own? Thanks, Dennis
  24. Neat idea, i think i might try one. what kind of finish did you put on, if any?
