  2. Looks good, Gundog. What about the ax, did you create that?
  3. Our deepest condolences to you and your family! May God's holy spirit help you to find calm during this difficult time. Dennis
  4. great anvil, and it's still in the family! :D
  5. "Music is the food of the soul, country, jazz or rock & roll." Hoyt Axton Add in forging and 'creating' from fire and steel.....life is good!
  6. Interesting article, thanks for posting, Mac. I liked the stats on recycling!
  7. Heavy work: Allman Bros, Roger Clyne and the Peace Makers, Gov't Mule. finer, softer work: Doyle Bramhall II, SRV.... but most 'good music', variety is the spice of life.. :)
  8. WHAT A MONSTER! I guess that would give you a travel anvil for demo's & hammer-ins! :) Kids could also ride it!?
  9. Very nice! I am a big fan of copper as well ! Can't be wrong with the beer bottle opener, a good knife with all you need for survival!! :)
  10. Lol... Dont feel bad, thats the way it works sometimes, something right in your back yard you dont even know about. I just joined the saltfork myself, so hopefully we'll get to meet there in fletcher if we both go, if not, maybe we can beat some iron later on! holler any time.
  11. Seen the same listing... MeThinks it stinketh! plus being over 2 hr drive just to check... In july there is a meeting in Fletcher of the Saltfork Craftsmen group, u might goand vist/join and maybe someone there may have one for sale. There is also Nature Farms farrier supply there in Norman (off Tecumseh), they have new anvils for not much more, having TFS, NC and some other brands to choose from. Good to have options! :)
  12. Very nice knife, and a very cool anvil!
  13. Great information. Thank you all.
  14. What a wonder offer! If I was not all the way down in Oklahoma, I'd take you up on it just to drink a beer and talk about it all!
  15. Nice job, quint. I like the handle material, flows nice with the forged blade.
  16. I think you guys are right. I guess it was more because of the historical romance of the item more than what it's really worth. Thanks for grounding me ! :)
  17. Hello All. I have seen this on CL for a while now, and am really considering it. I have zero experience with coal forge side of the house. I had been planning to build one, have a large brake drum and pluming for it, just looking for a table to set it up with, BUT, I kinda like this... The blower will need to be restored. What do you guys think? He wants $375 for it, about 1 1/2 hour drive away, so I was going to try to get him down to $300. Thanks for your input! Dennis
  18. There are lots of outlets for both leather and Kydex. Tandy Leather is one, Jantz Knife supply (Davis, OK), & Texas knife supply are just a few right off hand. Kydex is a plastic that comes in sheets. You can heat it up in an oven, toaster oven, or with a heat gun, then shape it around your knife, very versatile! It looks good with 550 cord and micarta (or any similar type) handles. But I still like leather for any natural type handles, like wood, antler etc.... :)
  19. Nice work, good shape. If you don't want to fight leather at first, kydex is pretty simple to work with, and may look good with that style, especially if you stay withthe 550 cord.
  20. Dan, I have yet to meet you, but my prayers go out to you and your family, and look forward to an exchange of ideas and thoughts with you when you get healed up. Regards, Dennis.
  21. Nice, I like that! I need to do something simular. good job.
  22. Bob, I don't feel comfortable with hijacking this thread, but if OddTodd will forgive this quick answer. We were very fortunate, the tornado went just south of us, but it did destroy some friends homes just to our south. Thank you very much for asking! Dennis
