  1. That looks killer Vaughn! Glad your still doing it, you've come a long way. I haven't fired up my forge in probably 3 years. =( Hoping to change that though.

    First tongs

As long as it works, your good. I'm sure you learned a lot. Brian Brazeal has an excellent video on making tongs via youtube if you haven't seen it. I hope your wearing proper shoes as well when forging. I learned the hard way not to wear sandals around my forge. Keep it up.
  3. Congrats! I'm still on the fence myself, been drooling over one for years. I just don't get to forge enough to justify it. Perhaps on next year's tax return.
  4. It's about 70* out here in CA. Wish it would snow! I've only seen it 3 times in my entire life.
  5. Very interesting design, I like it. Curious how well the upper portion travels along the shaft.
  6. I have several hammers made by Dave Custer and Brent Bailey, along with the generic harbor freight ones. My favorite by far is a cross pein Dave made me, I don't forge often. But when I have the time, it's usually to make leaf keychains. Aside from the cross pein, I love the Brazeal style rounding hammers.
  7. KMG is nice, you can also get a grinder in the box, wilton, eerf, bader BIII, etc. Lots of grinders out there. I have the KMG, but wish I saved more for the TW90. HOWEVER the TW90 is more than double the price of a KMG. A 2x72 grinder is super handy, makes quick work of just about all the many little things I do. Bolts too long? grind it down in 5 seconds.
  8. I use a KMG. But if I had the money, it would be a TW-90
  9. Excellent work, those look amazing!
  10. That's a great looking knife! Love the grain on the scales.
  11. Welcome! I'm out in SoCal as well, but in the Lonch Beach/Cerritos area.
